Are you a new player wishing to raise your combat level? Or are you a PKer wishing to keep your stats at the best they can be? Regardless of who you are or what you do, combat levels effect everyone, from looters to pures.
What is a combat level?
A combat level is a basic number used to measure how well a player does in combat. When a player is right-clicked, his or her combat level appears next to his or her name. Generally, higher combat levels are associated with wealth and knowledge, while lower levels are often called, "noob".
How are combat levels raised?
Before trying to raise your combat level, you must first examine your stats. A character can be range, magic, or melee based. The stat(s) that a character is based on would be the only of the four to affect combat.
To determine how you a character is based, add together attack and strength and multiply by two, multiply range by three, and multiply magic by three. The number that is highest would be the stat a character is based around. For example, when an account is first made, it has 1 attack, 1 strength, 1 range, and 1 magic.
- (1+1) * 2 = 4
- 1 * 3 = 3
- 1 * 3 = 3
Your melee number is the highest, so you start off melee based.
Pures find this formula useful in raising stats. A ranger with 40 range can raise his or her mage all the way to 40 without it affecting combat.
Three stats that affect combat level regardless of how a character is based are defense, prayer, and hit points. These stats affect combat by a little less than a main stat(s) would. For example, gaining two range levels and a hit would almost guarantee a raise in combat, but two hits and a range level might not.
The best way to raise your combat is by merely training the stat your character is based on.
How are combat level colors changed?
A person's combat color is reflexive of the viewer's combat level. All people with combat levels below the viewer would be greenish, and higher levels would appear orange/red.
