On Monday, April 24, 2006, the legend of Adeptperson was started. He has had many memorable moments, has made many good friends, he has also had a few bad moments and many other occurrences! I will tell the story of my career. I try to include details.
On afternoon, I was on the computer when my brother told me about weird game. He told me I should make an account, and play for fun. So I visited Runescape, and made an account. My first account was “adeptmortal”. But he died with 5k, so I made another account, “adepthuman”. He also died with some cash, so I quit. Finally, I made the account “Adeptperson”. The minute I started the tutorial, I was already addicted. I quickly finished the tutorial, and moved onto the real Runescape world. I started out thinking that the game was going to be very short, cheap and pointless.
The first thing I did was the quest “Cook's Assistant”. I had to get an egg, a bucket of milk and some flour. The Runescape map seemed very big. I got lost trying to find the items I needed. Then some nice fellow helped me out. After I finished the quest, I moved to the goblins north-west of the Lumbridge Castle. I started training attack and strength. After I got up a few levels, I was starting to explore the vast land of Runescape. I started gaining levels in all the skills. After two months of playing, I wasn't a “noob” anymore. I had many skills on the high scores and I had memorized the map, so I wouldn't get lost. Over that first summer, I didn't play too much because I was on vacation. But two weeks after I came back, I needed to sell coloured gloves, but nobody would want to buy in-game. So I decided to look for a forum to join. I didn't want to join a giant forum like the official Runescape forums, because it is too confusing.
After a few minutes of searching, I came across a good looking forum. It was called RS Boards. So I joined as “Adeptperson”. I made a new thread, and sold the coloured gloves. But the forum was really good, and I wanted to stay. So I stayed, and now I am an active member, for one year and a few months, with around 3,400 posts.
This forum has helped me a lot and I've made many friends. At this point, I was a level 60. So I decided to go to the wilderness for one of my first times. I met this nice guy. He had a friend, and we were all around the same level, so we decided to make a team. Our strategy was to “recruit” some people, take them to the deep wilderness, and attack them. We didn't get any good loot, but we had fun. After that fun player killing trip, we went for some beers. When we were done, we added each other, but we never really met again. We talked a bit every few weeks, but we basically forgot about each other. In December, I became a member for three months.
These were probably the best three months in my whole career. I gained member skills, went to mini games, completed some quests, explored the member world and many other things. My first member skill to gain was thieving. I didn't really gain that many member skills, because I was training the f2p skills, but in members. I still remember the first member quest I did, Elemental Workshop. I only did it for the cool looking shield. Some things I remember doing is picking flax for money. I also thieved from H.A.M. members to get level 1 clue scrolls. But I never got anything worth over 200k. My one problem in Runescape is keeping money; I always spend it on accessories. My greatest achievement in my whole career was earning my first million gp. I was so happy, I told everyone online, and started yelling it out everywhere. But sadly, I lost that 1m because I was hacked. Then a month later, I had 2m, and then I was walking by the wilderness in level 1, and got attacked, and lost that 2m.
When I canceled my membership, I was saddened; F2p compared to p2p is like comparing a Mercedes Benz to cheap used car. I had nothing to do. But I started to slowly my lowest skills. At this point, I had about 100k; I spent all my money again. Then my good friend gave me a good merchanting tip, guthix skirts. You buy then for 100k, and sell for 150k. This was a very good method. In a couple of weeks, I had about 2.2m. During the second summer of the career, I tried to go for 99 cooking, but only got to about 80, and then gave up.
After the summer, I started to give back to the forum.
I held many events, and gave out a lot of prizes and cash. But then I got hacked for a second time, and lost 200k. I was very mad, one more thing, and I would quit the game. Then a few weeks later, I decided to get my mage up from 56 to 60. I had runes worth 300k, and I think you can guess what would happen, I died at the lesser because of lag. I was so mad; I decided to finally quit Runescape. And I've been sober for about a week. I only get on for holiday events, and clan events. The clan I'm part of is Runescape Boards Clan, RSBC.They are a pretty cool clan. My career has been a short one. I never made more than 3m, I've lost large amounts of money four times and I can't take it no more. I also have 5.10 black marks. The first time, I got banned for 3 days, because of offensive language, same with the other 2 times. I guess I could have prevented all those accidents by being more careful. I will still be staying at RSB, because it gives me something to do.
In conclusion, Runescape has taught me a lot. I don't plan to return to Runescape anytime soon. I just play other games like Call of Duty 2. The only other time I will go onto Runescape, is to make videos. For now, my friend is “looking after” my account. I hope you enjoyed my story.
