The arts of merchanting in RuneScape

Merchanting is a skill in RuneScape which can earn a lot of money if you are good at it.

Pros:

- Earn a lot of money

- Your money will keep multiplying

- Do not need to raise any training skills

Cons:

- Hard to find sellers

- If you do not have much money as capital, you will not earn much

- Too much of flooding of message in marketplaces, can't see trades

Recommendation needs for starting merchanting

- 50k - 300k money

- Researching in game forum and see the demands of goods

- Buy in huge amounts

- Alert mind, so you will not get scammed

Some common scams

- Trade windows opened. Person A offers 70k for Person B's Rune Scimitar. Person A changed the amount of money to 7k and place some useless items into the trade as distraction. Person B did not take notice and he got scammed. When someone buy things which is above the marketprice, double-check the amount of money.

- Trade windows opened. Person A offers 111k for Person B's Rune platelegs and Rune full helm. Person B did not notice, Person A replace 111k to 11.1k . Please note that 111k looks a bit like 11.1k, take note while you trade with recurring numbers like 111,222,333 and so on...

- Person A from Varrock West Bank offered Bad wine for 50k. Person C from Varrock East Bank buying Bad Wine for 100k. Person B decided to buy the Bad Wine for 50k from Person A, when reaching to the East Bank, Person C logs out. This is a set-up scam. Quite common around, they may use some useless items and overcharged you.

- Luring Scam. Person A offers high price for Person B's armour and wants him to come to wilderness to do a fair trade as no one is around. Person B thinks it sounds logical and got killed instead. Many RuneScape forums was discussing on how they are going to lure users into the wilderness with a ulterior motive, so for what ever trade, do it in a safe place like in a bank or a empty house.

HOT merchanting Items

- Feathers

- Holiday items

- Runes

- Full Rune (Buying part by part and sell people as a whole)

- Buy Iron and coals and smelt them to Steel Bars

- Rune Weapons

Feathers is quite a hot demand as you can buy them cheap in fishing stores and selling people at 7.5 times the usual price. Holiday items are quite hard to raise, and it is the money-making point when you keep it. Runes like air, mind, chaos, law, Death, Nature (VERY HOT) can be either bought or runecrafted if you are a member for some of the runes. Steel Bars selling is very common in RuneScape as they can earn good profits by smelting large amount of irons and coals. Merchanting Rune Weapons are not so good because you can only earn about 50k per hour.

Full Rune Merchanting

If you buy Rune full helm for 20k, a Rune platebody for 50k, a Rune platelegs for 45k, which costs 115k in total, by selling them as a set, you can sell it at 180k - 200k. you will earn about 65k or more in a trade.

Lol, i enjoyed reading that guide, but i really thing its more of a guide to start merchanting. If i was the author of this guide i would focus on specific items, and what can be merchanted at different price ranges. You did cover the buy alot of one thing, ill b looking to see if you update, thx.

first of all...it was a scam...wtf type of mod would try to give you phat when they used all their time trying to get money for items. the only thing i am gonna tell you is that bein member is the best way to make money. and sk1ttl35 isn't my rs name, just made it up so my account won't get hacked 0_o

I thought it was O.K. but i think you should show a little more and I have a very good way of making money. Requirements:40+ fishing (higher level will make it a little faster) and a lobster pot. Go to catherbee and fish uncooked lobbs untill you get a full invintory.Put it in the bank. Repeat intill you have 250k-300k uncooked lobbs. Sell for 200-250gp each. if you get 300k at 200gp each thats 6mill!!!You can also merchant them buy buying for 200gp and selling for 220-250gp.If you have 300k lobs that's a 600k profit!!!hope you enjoyed.

best merchanting skill evr. ok first ull need either 6k, 60k, 600k, 6m etc. best for money to be in 6's. go to a fishing store or shantay pass and spend it all on feathers. 6k = 1k feathers, 60k = 10k feathers 600k = 100k feathers etc. then best bet is to go on forums but if ur non member then just go to any marketplace. the trick is that fishing stores and shantay pass sell feathers for 6gp ea then u can sell for 10gp ea. it might take a it of time cause the whole point is to find a buyer who checked runehq and found that street price is 5gp-10gp and at the same time has no idea that fish stores sell them for 40% less. doing this u can get them to pay u 10gp ea making u 40% profit. 1k feathers = 10kgp, 10k = 100kgp, 100k = 1mgp etc. try it out urself

but not a bad guide for a starting merchant
the grand exchange and wildy updates killed merchanting, i used to make like 500k-1m a day by buying super sets in seperate peices on forums for 6-7k a set then sold em w 18 for 10kea but when the ge came out i got barely any buyers and once the wildy updates came out pot merchanting completly died

i had to sell the pots separetly on ge and lost 200k =(

the item that i merchant is really good because i can earn about 200 k in one go. Soz but i can't tell u what the item is.

only works if ure buying atleast over a thousand or that item
buy from person then sell for max at ge because u will atomaticly sell for market value and if u buy for max from person the 3k-30k doesnt get multiplied for every item then if u sell on ge however much the difference between the market value and max for that item will get multiplied.

for f2p merchant, (if u have around 10 mil and more it works best) If you are only in like 5 mils... it works slower though. Watch trends for "d'hide (g), wizard (g) and god armors". when dhide g gets really low, and is startin to pop up, buy as much as u can. Using the ge buy chaps AND bodies for like 1k above mid if it is already headin up. They should come in slowly...
Make them into sets and try sellin them 1k below max in ge (sets). You get around 20k per set so if u have like 30m, you make very good profit. With wiz (g) and god armors, you should hold them until they rise more then sell them.

For the comment above... sometimes the merchanting will take a long time to sell or buy, try adjusting the prices a little to sell faster if needed. (example: if selling sets 1k below max in ge does Not Work for a long time, try 2k then 3k, then 4k, etc. but usually it works if the demand is good and u wait a long time. Try Not to buy over 3k the mid from the ge, and also when buying d'hide (g) for sets, Always Make Whole Sets. For wizard (g), sara, zam, guthix, rune (g): it isn't recommended making sets.

actually yeah dont merch d boots ... its not the fact that they are hard to buy on low .. ifact when u buy on low u get instantly but when u try to sell on market its almost impossible and the prices have dropped by 200k and only make 20k profit

If you want to get FREE runescape membership you can get it for free, just a few easy steps.
Go to
http://www.videogames4free.tk
and sign up.

Once you get there click SIGN UP on the menu bar on the left and fill out your information.

They will ask you for your email. I recommend you give them your real one because this is easier for verification. If you give them your spam one you might accidentally delete it. The site doesn't spam you its all the offers you will be doing that send the junk email.

They also ask for your address when you claim a prize. Don't worry too much about this all they need your address for is to mail you prizes.

After you signup they will send you a confirmation link to your email address you entered. Click the link and you're done. The email should come pretty quick (usually instantly). And make sure you check your spam folders.

Step 2: Complete Offers

Once inside you can check out the prize list.

To earn points click on "Available Offers". There you will see a whole list of offers and how many points you'll get if you complete that offer. When filling out an offer you don't have to give your real home address or phone number. And make sure you use your spam email account because believe me you will be spammed. Also, be sure to check your email occasionally for those offers that require email confirmation otherwise you won't get credited for completing the offer properly.

Step 3: Claim Your Prize

After you have enough points you can now go to "Available Prizes" and see what you can cash those points in for. This is the fun part. =)

They have a ton of prizes. You'll see stuff like consoles (Xbox, PS3, Wii), video games, iPods, etc. There are Xbox Live cards in the "Xbox" section and will be emailed to you. Physical prizes like iPods and video games will deliver so make sure your address is correct before you claim a prize that requires shipping.

Also, something many people don't realize is that if you don't see anything you like you can actually send a request for a custom prize. Just send support a ticket with a link to what you want from amazon.com and they'll let you know how many points you'll need. Basically it will be a point for every dollar.

ok i am am lvl 100 member and i have 500mill i make 100k a day firstly go fally party room on world 11 and try getting rune stand by the door it always drops goods i got full rune at lvl 6 cos of this so try it them marketing comes in and repeat the prosses.

100k a day is really, really pathetic for someone who\'s supposed to have 500 mil!
a lvl 100 can make that in 30-45 minutes , killing ankou\'s, for instance.
ur no lvl 100 AND u dont have 500 mil if you think 100k a day is a lot of money... hahaha!!!
getting rich from drop parties is also the most stupid thing I\'ve heard in a long time... good luck, waiting all day for a decent party, and then, good luck getting a drop when all the banks over rs have been shouting \"50 mil drop party in 10 minutes\", attracting a thousand others, all competiting over 2 or 3 good items.
