I have been playing RuneScape for over two years, and I find it one of the most involving and interesting online games ever made. My opinion for new players is to start on whatever interests them. As you follow your interests, look around and ask other players what makes the most money, what is the most fun, etc. When you have a good idea of what you want to excel at, be patient until you reach your goal. For instance, I saw some players cutting yew trees, and I asked how much they sold the logs for. I got excited by their answer: more than 250 each! I worked on my woodcutting for a month, and after weeks of cutting willows, I was woodcutting level 60! I immediately started cutting yews and made thousands of gold every day. Currently my character has 72 woodcutting, and I can make 100K in an hour of chopping yews. So be patient and you will reach your goal soon.
