Some useful tips many players may not know about ranged.
Always use rapid mode for training. Your arrows will break more often, but this is definitely worth the exp in most cases.
Shortbows of the same level are always the best choice compared to longbow and crossbows. This applies for most bows, not including the special bows (Dark Bow, Crystal Bow, Karil's Crossbow, etc.).
You can range while running. Right click them then click follow, then attack them. You will range them while you are chasing after them at the same time, this is very important for player-killing, as most people will decide to run away when they die.
You will not gain any combat levels for any ranged levels gained below your magic level and vice versa. So if my ranged level was 99 then I could cast as many non-combat spells and not gain any more combat levels.
Normally, try to use the maple shortbow on f2p, or magic shortbow on p2p for pking. It does not require a very high level to wield and has an effective Special Attack for finishing the opponent off when they are at low health.
Do NOT use crossbows on f2p. The best type of crossbows and bolts you can use on non-members worlds are bronze, and these do not bring any benefit other than the fact that they are cheap. These are not much cheaper than bronze arrows though, so it is better to not use a crossbow unless you are a member.
Crossbows are one handed weapons. This means that of wielding a crossbow, you can also equip a shield of any type. This can be useful in certain situations such as fighting Elvarg.
Pures can have a max of 79 ranged while being under level 56 for the the low level crater.
NEVER use a cannon on a King Black Dragon, the Kalphite Queen, Chaos Elemental, Sea Troll Queen, or Giant Roc or it may be destroyed and you will have to go buy another one (this is different from decaying!).
