Not many need this guide. Although, there are a few that haven't played Castle Wars before, or are just beginning.
Methods of Battle
Range
If you've got higher than about 50 range, then your range will just about suffice. If you've had experience in range, then you'll know that you have to get to an elevated point. Once there, take out your Mage bow and range. Always attempt to stay at a distance with your enemy, and if this is not possible, switch to your melee weapon (Dragonhide can, in certain cases, provide decent protection). Only melee as a last resort, because you're more likely stronger in ranging. If you can, attempt to have melee players surround you. This is so that you're not weakly protected, and if an enemy happens to reach the elevated point; then essentially you can have the melee players attack, and you stay at a distance and range.
Magic
Well, if you're playing as a mage, you usually will stay at a distance similar to the Rangers. Therefore; you will be around rangers and mages most of the time. Mage is not recommended, unless you have a minimum of 60 Magic. Considering that most of the time, low spells won't suffice. They'll do nothing but cause trouble. If you can, use mostly death rune spells. Those will do the most damage, and will assist anyone who's getting attacked. Mages usually have the hardest job alongside the rangers; protecting the base. They're usually responsible for holding the frontline barriers of the base. If enemies intrude, then it's in most cases the Mage/Ranger's responsibility. Just like Rangers, Mages should always have a backup Melee weapon in case.
Melee
The most used method. It's the typical fighting style. Armour of some sort, a weapon, typically dragon, and a shield. Depending on what level you are, you're going to use a certain type of armour, and certain types of weapons (Well, based on your combat stats). If you have the capacity for rune armour, then you should most likely have it, and be using it. If you've got the capacity for dragon weapons, then you should use them. The most seen combination amongst those in between level 80 - 95 is Rune plate body, Rune Plate legs, Crystal elf Shield (Well, that's what I used) and a Whip. That's recommended; for those who can afford it. For the others, most of you have a rune or dragon weapon. Use it, and use rune armour, if not, adamantine armour.
When in Castle Wars, you will either rush the opposing side, or protect your own. In most cases, you will rush the opposing side, and in this case, you will have allies alongside you. Before you rush though, make sure that you have bandages to heal you. When you arrive, I would suggest rushing to the flag. Avoid starting any major warfare; attempt to immediately get in and out. Then, go through the underground passage (Or above, I prefer underground), and head back to your base. Use your bandages while running with the flag, and if you're not running with the flag, attack those who are chasing the flag barer.
Protecting the Flag
Have a group of 3 - 4 people remain near the flag. Once there, you can wait for enemies to approach. Make sure to check every now and then if someone is coming by going down the stairs, and then back up. Put Barricades around the flag, and when someone comes upstairs; put one at the stairs, so there's a low possibility of them escaping. Persist, and you'll be able to stop them.
Retrieving the Flag
No matter what class you're going by; you can always rush for the flag. Always bring a couple of bandages and allies along though. It's not wise to go alone, but it's all right so long as you can handle the onslaught of attacks. I recommend running in and running out. I might be reiterating, but I believe it's the best way. Speed is the only thing that counts, and considering that the Bandages heal you and recover speed, you've got a high chance of making it back. Find the nearest path and take it, then head to your base as fast as possible. If needed, call for assistance. Soon as you arrive, return the flag. You've captured the flag.
