Always stuck at the bank trying to figure out what to bring to wildy? Then read this guide for rangers! It contains information on equipment and inventory for rangers of all sorts (nonmembers only).
EQUIPMENT
Headgear:
This is one of the least important parts of your equipment, but it should still be discussed nevertheless. Most rangers choose to wear coif (or cowl if you are not yet 20 range); it is very inexpensive. However, coifs may be harder to come by than other items, because you can only get them from the champion's guild and/or other players. If you are not a member of the champion's guild, then try to buy them from other players. Coifs give minimal defense bonuses, but give +2 range bonus. Other options for headgear include iron full helm, steel full helm, black full helm, mith full helm, addy full helm, or rune full helm. Helms give substantial defense bonuses, but give a -2 range bonus. If you are of a higher defense level, I suggest wearing a helm instead of a coif. If you use both range and mage, black or blue wizzy hats may be best.Ammy:
Almost always, you should wear a power ammy. Some rangers at lower levels use ammies of accuracy because they are cheaper. Power ammies give +6 to everything; ammies of accuracy give +4.
Body:
For the body, there are basically three categories. First, there are the chainbodies. These do not subtract from your range bonus, but they do not add to it either. You can wear the chainbody that is suitable for your defense level, because it may give considerable defense bonuses. However, if you do not plan on dying anytime soon and want to focus on attacking, then you may want to wear a range body. By range body, I mean leather body, hardleather body, studded body, or dragonhide body. You can wear the one suitable for your defense level. They give some defense bonus, but also give some range bonus too.
The third category consists of wizzy robes and monk robes. Wizzy robes are probably best if you range and mage; chainbodies and range bodies take away from mage bonus. However, wizzy robes don't add too much to mage bonus either. Monk robes do not take away from mage bonus, but do not add to it either; however, they add to prayer bonus. You can wear monk robes if you have prayer and range/mage. As a general rule, if you have about 10 defense or higher, then I would not wear monk's robes or wizzy robes and go instead for the chain or range bodies.
Bow:
This is easy. Wear a shortbow that is suitable for your range level. Always.
Arrows:
When pking, bring the best arrows that your bow can hold. I suggest bringing about 50 - 60 arrows per trip. If you don't plan on picking up your arrows, then I suggest bringing more; maybe up to 100.
Legs:
You have two general categories for legs. First, there's the range/mage section. Range/magers can wear either monk's robes or leather chaps for their legs, and perhaps carry better legs for range in their inventory just in case they don't need to mage for a while. Monk's robes help by giving pray bonuses; however, if you don't pray, then get leather chaps, which don't take away from mage bonus, but do give +4 range bonus. Then there's the pure range section. This section includes leather chaps (for the lower levels), studded chaps, and dragonhide chaps. Wear the chaps suitable for your level. Why not wear armor for legs? These give defense bonuses, but also give large minuses for range bonus.
Vambraces:
You only have two options. Dragonhide vamps and leather vamps. Leather vamps are for those who range/mage or do not yet have 40 range. Dragonhide vamps are for those who only range and have 40 range. For those of you who want to look good, wear colored gloves if you want.

INVENTORY
The inventory is very straightforward. Unless you are a range/mage, all you have to do is bring teles and food. Otherwise, you should bring runes to cast whatever spell you wish to cast. Some rangers bring binds who don't have very high mage; they tend to be unsuccessful.
Recommended inventory
- Teleport Runes
- Food
- If a range-mage hybrid:
- Runes for fireblast
- Runes for bind, if desired
- Mage clothes to change into when not ranging (from above, such as monk bottom and staff)
