Hybrid Metagaming "Fist of Guthix" F2p

How you can maximise your attempts to win in the "Fist of Guthix" mini-game.

Ever wondered how you can get the upper hand over your friends while playing this mini-game? Keep on losing against insanely strong opponents? Here's how you can get the cutting edge to show how strong you really are.

Considering that you have a pretty decent level in your combat abilities, RuneScape has made your character stronger/weaker depending on your level. However, you have to know that this always isn't the case. For example, a level 3 is up against a level 79. The level 3 probably won't even have the hitpoints to survive one attack while the level 79 has access to prayer, and a much higher hitpoint value. As I have shown, this game is still advantaged by the higher levelled players. There is though still a chance to make a comeback if you choose to hybrid.

This set involves metagaming with the standard mage. This is chosen as magic is the most commonly used choice for attack. Dragon hide is the best source of magic defence and is really advised that you bring a pair. Vambraces can be used instead of gloves if you wish. Although this set lowers your magic attack bonus, it doesn't greatly affect the way that you attack. Another great advantage is that dragon hide has a pretty decent all-rounded defence although it is mainly used against magic; it is still an option to use against melee and ranged. Bring a melee weapon of your choice. Scimitars are advised due to their popularity along with their speed and strength. A battleaxe can also be used as you have more melee options against armoured enemies. However, you then might as well use magic if that is the case. The amulet of power is advised over other amulets as it gives you the best all-rounded bonuses for attack and defence.

So, how do I play using this style of game play?

Hunting: When starting a hunt, switch to your staff and use the strongest magic attack you can. This will vary as if your magic is just at a certain point, it will be harder to conjure some spells opposed to others. To make sure you have a decent spell, try using the best attack that is at least 2 levels under your mage level. If you want to use the strongest spell, that is fine too. Run into the centre to see if they are there. If they are not, then proceed to check the corners where they might me hiding. Keep on chasing them while attacking with your magic staff of doom. However, some high prayer levelled players will decide to put on defence against magic. This is when you change to your melee weapon. Once you have equipped it on, you should never take it off unless they die or the go into a house. Try to use a slash type of attack if your opponent is wearing mage gear or dragon hide. When your opponent realises that you are using melee instead, they will switch to defence against melee. Just before this happens, you should predict to use magic again, dealing as much damage as possible while wasting your opponent's prayer. When using magic this time, select the spell from the spell book instead of changing back to a staff. This cycle should go on until you disintegrate your opponent. Excellent prediction will cause panic within the other players head. If you are having trouble predicting than follow the algorithm: 2 melee attacks, 1or2 magic attacks.

Always use magic though if they are running away from you and make sure you use your prayer as it recharges after every round.

Hunted: The part of the game when you score. This involves running around trying not to get killed. A cheap way of getting charges is to keep on entering the houses so your opponent has no way that they can attack you. However, people will get really frustrated with you and call you a “noob” so I don't recommend doing this. However, using the houses can score you high points; just don't use them all the time. One strategy for the early game is to get your crystal and head for the houses. Camping near the houses gives you moderate charges and you can use them as a barrier against the incoming hunter. Houses can also be used to teleport away. Another strategy is to use the teleport orb while you are at the very edge of the map. This can cause your opponent to waste their energy looking for you and use even more energy as they run to the centre looking for you. During this time, you can get your prayer ready or run to another edge. Using prayer is almost essential for staying in the centre for long periods of time.
