There are many scams and cheating find on the popular game runescape. In order to avoid them, it is best to understand and analyze them in examples. I am probably one of the many runescape players who have been hacked and scamed over and over again. So now I have some experience to teach all the new players what not do in runescape using my personal examples.
Example 1- When I started runescape as a free player, I was like many new players, mining and smiting then sell my product to various shops. It took weeks for me to earn 3 k, but I was happy. I never use banks to deposit my money because I felt is unnecessary. One day I was on the usual mining smiting and mining, I meet a guy who told me if I follow him, I would get as many money as possible. So I followed him, he led me into wilderness and killed me, stole my weeks of hard earned money.
Scenario analysis- most people would not fell for this trick, but some does, if people did, they would lose a lot since they are probably new players. It is not very dangerous but pretty frequent. To avoid it, just remember gold does not appear on the ground by themselves, if you want to be rich, earn it yourself.

Example 2- When I am at an average level, I want to buy a rune 2 hand, it was about 30k I believe. So I saved for a looooong time, sold my full addy, and finally acquired enough money to buy the sword. I then went to varrock, shouted buying r2h, a guy came up, offer the rune 2 hand in a note, I drag up the money to the trading board, then clicked accept both windows without thinking. When the trade was finished, I check my inventory which makes my heart drop like a stone, the scammer swap the rune 2 hand to a iron 2 hand without me noticing.
Scenario analysis- Happens almost to everybody, just double check the trading window when you are making a important trade.

Example 3- When I got my full rune and was ready to do dragon slayer, I noticed some of the strange rune armors people are wearing, some are white, red, yellow, etc, all looks a lot better than my plain old one. So I asked a guy how did he do that, he replied only members can do it, is called trimming. I asked can he do it for me, he said sure, I gave his my full rune and the next second, and he disappeared.
Scenario analysis- many free players drools when they see the cool armor and want to trim it. Remember nobody can trim armors, not even mods. The armor can only acquired in members but can be traded in free world, the armor does nothing special except looks cool and overpriced.

Example 4- There was a time when I went pking, once somehow I killed a guy and it seems he is carrying a whole bag of uncut diamonds. My crafting level was 1 so I cannot do anything to it. When I went back to Fallor to bank my loot, I see a guy yelling free cutting all uncuts, so I went to him, give him the uncut diamonds, and then I never see him again.
Scenario analysis- This is a small trick, players is not going to lose a lot over this unless is onyx or dragonstone. To avoid, just don’t give anything valuable to anybody, include the friend you meet online.

Example 5- When I became a member, first thing I did was trying to earn money, it was my luck when the new skill carpentry came out, the planks are worth so much I earn millions with ease. With all the money, I bought a whip, then a guy came up to me saying want some rewards, I said sure, the he said he want to do a test on how much dragon daggers and whip hit, he want me to bring my whip only to wilderness to do it. I agreed because I won’t lose my whip if I die since is the only thing I am carrying. So I went to wilderness, we attacked each other and my health is low, then he trade me 3 mystic bodies for free. I was so happy then he use the dragon dagger effect on me. Then I died, when I was revived, I find the 3 mystic bodies in my inventory but no whip
Scenario analysis- To avoid be tricked like me, always remember mystic bodies is worth more than whip in shop price. However, if a person really need money, they can try to go to the wilderness with some food and teleport runes, when the scammer attack you, eat, when he give you the armor, quickly teleport and earn 3 quick mystic bodies.
