The difference between nolifing and powertraining.

Nolifing is training for as many hours per day as possible, racking up as many as 16 hours online a day. There is very little method to nolifing, but there are some tricks you can use to help you squeeze as many hours as you can out of your day. The techniques to this are real-life based, meaning the time management is how you structure your real life day to get as much free time as possible. I'm going to assume you'll be using this free time for runescape, but really you could be managing your time for anything, from finishing off an assignment to practicing an instrument.

Powertraining is gaining as much experience as you can per hour while playing runescape. This is very technical and can require some small sacrifices if you are serious enough about it. This is essentially a nolifing in runescape section, where instead of managing your real life day for maximum runescape time, you're managing your runescape time for maximum experience gain. This may seem easy, but on a longer timeline it really isn't(trust me ). Personally I think of myself as better at nolifing than powertraining, but I am still very familiar with powertraining.

Misconceptions.

For some reason, a lot of people seem think nolifers are a weird subspecies of homo sapiens that are allergic to sunlight and social interaction. From what I have heard, they thrive under the shelter of their mother(literally under the house, in a basement or cellar), and emerge only to forage nearby pantries for food and occasionally to bathe.

Now while I find this stereotype amusing, it does offend me when people put me down for being a "nolifer". I believe I lead a pretty healthy, balanced life, I just know how to manage my time. I go out with friends every week(every day when I'm living at my flat), go biking or running every couple of days and I eat healthy. I like to read, write and cook.

Nolifing does not mean you automatically put runescape in front of everything else in your life, and disregard everything else as timewasting, or as merely a necessity to live.

Here's a made up example of a socialite's average week during their school holidays, without work.-Let's say they sleep 8 hours a day = 56 hours.-Go to a beach/party/play sport/movie/whatever with their friends for a few hours, twice = 8 hours.-Have a friend over to stay the night, or go a friend's = 16 hours(24, minus 8 for sleeping time, which we have already counted).-Go running/biking/to a gym every other day for an hour = 3.5 hours.-Shower/Eating/other necessities = 14 hours.-Spend time with their family, watching TV or a movie, playing cards, whatever = 14 hours.-Chores = 7 hours.-Reading = 7 hours.

Total spare free time = 42.5 hours a week, and that's with a pretty productive week, not to mention a lot of the times are exaggerated! And lets say they also spend an hour a day between activities, getting between them, milling around, stalling etc. That still leaves 35.5 hours a week completely free! That's just over an average of 5 hours a day they can spend on doing whatever they want, while still doing all those things I've listed. And in my opinion, that's still a pretty loaded week.

Anyway the point I'm making is that even though someone may seem to play a lot per day, it doesn't mean they can't lead a fully productive life. Besides, what business is it of yours what another person does or doesn't do with their life(or account for that matter, to those who are criticising others for getting combat...)?. Anyway I'm getting off track, so let's move on.

There are a few key things you will need if you are going to start nolifing or powertraining. The most important thing(besides a computer that runs runescape and a runescape account ) is a goal. For most people, this goal is an experience based goal like a 99 stat, a rank, or to get every skill to a certain level. It could also be a money based goal, or a quest/music goal. To be honest it doesn't really matter what your goal is, as long as you have one. Without a goal, you will just end up milling around in a bank somewhere, trying to get people to talk to you. If you don't have a goal and would like one, simply choose a skill that you enjoy or a skill that you really respect(preferably both ), and aim to get it to 99.

Wow, that was a really excellent guide! I read the whole thing without even realizing it.. You got some great points in there, but the energy pills/drinks seems a little unhealthy, and lack of sleep is extremely unhealthy. (it can cause a lot of bad things - look it up on wikipedia.. ) But the rest of the guide is great! Thanks!
