So, you want to be rich eh? Well, you must then know how to get money. First off, money won't just appear in your inventory (except for the random events). You have to earn it yourself. There are many ways to earn money. Such ways include producing your own item and selling it and the other one: merchanting.
At first, before you do anything, put your public chat to hide, as this will help you see trade offers better in crowded areas.
If you like to make your own items, you can sell them for profit. You get all o the money that you earn, unlike in merchanting, which we will talk about later. You simply mine, fish, craft, smith, chop, build, etc. you items and sell them for massive money, all free, just pay with your time. In this case, the best worlds to sell are worlds 1 through 10. Below are some pricing guidelines:
Ores:
- Coal - 180 to 200 gp each
- Iron- 100 to 140 gp each
- Mithril- 200 to 300 gp each
- Adamant - 300 to 450 gp each
- Runite- 500 to 1k gp each
Bars:
- Iron - 150 to 200 each
- Steel - 300 to 500 each
- Mithril - 400 to 650 each
- Adamant - 500 to 650 each
- Runite - 500 to 1k each
Logs:
- Regular - 100 ea
- Oak - 150 ea
- Willow 200 to 300 ea
- Maple - 300 to 450 ea
- Yew - 500 to 1k ea
- Magic - up to 5k ea
Fish:
- Lobsters - 250 to 350 ea
- Swordfish - 300 to 500 ea
- Tuna - 170 to 250 ea
- Bass - 240 to 450 ea
These guidelines are not completely accurate, because the price changes depending on the need of the buyer. Just be careful not to overprice it, or else on one will buy it. This way you can make around 300k a week.
However, some of us are very impatient to get the money (say yes). We want that dwarf cannon someone is selling for 400k! How do we get the money? Last, but not least…Merchanting!
Yes, merchanting. The concept is simple; you buy something for a low price, and sell for a high price. Do not be afraid to spend money on the item you are merchanting. That is called INVESTING (yes, I know this is a new word for you.). You put some money in, and you take even more money out.
The easiest to start off with is feathers. First get around 10k from the above money-making method. Then to the Lumbridge chicken farm, which is east of the river Lum, slightly north of the cows. On almost any world there will be people getting feathers from chickens there. Say something like, “Buying feathers”. Probably many people will trade you. Use a calculator when finding the amounts, because this speeds up the trade. Buy feathers for about 2 to 5 gp each. Once your money has run out, go to worlds 1 through 10 and try to sell them for 8 or more gp each. Members will find selling feathers very easy, as there are the Runescape forums and many people willing to buy them on a members world. Repeat the process until you are satisfied with your money.
Another way is merchanting coal, iron, iron bars, and steel bars. Go onto a NOT CROWDED server. Go to the east Falador bank. Say, “Buying [Coal/ iron/ iron bars/ steel bars] for [amount of money] each!” For more crowded worlds add, “------[Your name here]------“ or, “~~~~[Your name here]~~~~”. Remember to use the color effects on your writing to make it more attractive. The buying and selling prices are listed below:
- Item - Buying Price/Selling Price
- Coal - 150 to 165 each/175 to 200 ea
- Iron - 50 to 80 ea/100 to 150 ea
- Steel bars - 300 and under/400 and up
- Iron bars - 200 and under/250 and up
Be aware that sometimes you can be scammed, such as thinking that the ore you are buying is coal, buy really is iron. Or, thinking that steel is iron. In both cases, you are paying for an item more than it is worth. Be careful, and get a full list of scams Here.
Once you have enough of your item, go to worlds 1 to 10 and sell it the same way you bought it, just price it higher. Be careful not to be scammed, or that will decrease your money dramatically. This mthod can earn you up to 500k a week. Here is a formula to figure out the profit:
[Money earned from selling item] minus [Money spent on buying item] = Profit earned!
Conclusion:
In conclusion, you can make money very easily; you just have to follow these guidelines. Never be scammed. That is the worst way to lose your money. Always follow the rules of the game. Many people will try to scam you. Try to avoid selling coal to levels under 50, as they will either buy for too little or they will try to scam you (they are low level because they are a trash account: if they are banned, their main is still active).
Always have fun when merchanting, don't hesitate to sell an item that you are not merchanting to earn some profit if someone is buying it for a high price.
