How to Become a Runescape Player Moderator: The True Way

These tips are from Player Mod's themselves, and I hope this guide helps you on your journey to become a great player moderator.

I am not a Player Moderator yet, But the following is all stuff said straight from player mods, and some from Jagex mods. I hope this helps you, make sure, if you read this, read it all, do not leave anything out because it will effect your chances. But if you read it all, your chances in becoming a player mod WILL increase.

The Main tip: You want Jagex to "notice" you.

One more note: these are all handy tips from my fellow p-mods.

*Being active on the forums: this is very helpful. Jagex briefly mentions being active on the forums is a part of it, but is not required. Give feedback to posts with kindness, respect and maturity. Here's an example of a thread on the runescape forums:

Player's Thread post:" I came up with a great idea, it's having a skillhood which allows you to teleport to the place where you baught it from"

What you want to reply: "Nice idea! I hope you continue to come up with these great ideas!"

What you do NOT want to reply: "Player, this should be posted in the suggestions.."

If you read under the forums in the section, "General" on the sticky thread named "moderators", go to the last page, there's very useful information there about this exact situation.

*Give Genuine Reports by the Runescape Rules:

Send in reports when spotting a player breaking the rules. Here's some examples

Rule1:

Not-Reportable:

Player: "hey sexy!"

Reportable:

Player: "hey sexy, want to have some fun?"

Non-reportable:

Player: "You stupid moron"

Reportable:

Player: "You stupid moron, I'm going to kill you."

Since that is a threat, that is reportable. something like this, if it's going to a great extent, such as,

Player: "You stupid moron! You're a retarded loser and i hate you with all my soul, die!"

That seems reportable right? Yes, it all depends how far a player goes with it.

*Follow the Rules: By all means, you will not be a player moderator if you continue to break the rules. If you have a player moderator status and break the rules, you will get demodded.

Anyone can be a playermoderator, even if they have blackmarks, Jagex can notice that you've learned your lesson. Although this is quite rare to happen.

Do:

  • Play by the rules (This is a must)
  • Know the rules (This is also a must)
  • Report Rule breakage (This is also another must)
  • Post on the forums (This can help get noticed by Jagex, but is not required)
  • Be kind and respectful to all players, Jagex likes to represent their company with maturity.
  • Be helpful to player who need help in game or on the forums
  • Have fun, as Jagex likes to see that their players like to have fun instead of JUST reporting players.

*Do not:

  • Be a playermod-wannabe such as critisizing other players in game or on the forums, this is mentioned in the forum Quick Find Code:14-15-775-32003187 on the last page on the top.
  • Sit around and report rule breakers in lumbridge or report auto bots at the yews.
  • Report Falsely or report someone more than once. That is breaking rule 10
  • Go looking for trouble. But let the trouble come to you.
  • Never reply to a fellow friend with "Noob" or "what do you want!" but more like, "Hi" or "How can i help you?"
  • ask jagex to mod you. you will NOT be modded if this happens

I wouldn't suggest "trying" to be a player mod.

Remember, if you've had any previous bans or blackmarks, this will affect your chances, but does not destroy them. Jagex runs a full scan on your account on what you've said and done. Be careful. but remember, they're very forgiving.

I hope this helped you. Remember, with these techniques, your chances of becoming a Player Moderator will increase. This takes time. but remember, I have 2 friends who are player mods, and they have only been playing for 2 years, when i have been playing for 3.

Best of luck. Don't give up on me.

Kamo - Put on your ignore list

Andy - Report it under rule 1

Fatter - I believe you should make a new file, 10.2 blackmarks is alot. Most mods have 0 or like 0.1 or something.

My account and only account is Sephriroth1 for years now. I feel like becoming a Player Moderator but of course it takes time, rules obeying and many more. I am in the Green Zone, not banned or mute but I cannot post in the official Runescape Forums. Any ideas what does this mean or rather why I can't post in the forums? I am playing in Free Worlds.

Sephriroth1, because you are not a member.

You're not a member, so it won't happen. As Kamo said up there, the ignore list works wonders!
