Free Runescape Mining Sites

All the mines in free to play Runescape and what they're good for.

A list of all the F2P (Free to Play) mining sites with comments:

Al Kharid Chasm Mine

North of Al Kharid, South of Varrock.

Contains:

  • 3 Copper
  • 1 Tin
  • 9 Iron
  • 5 Silver
  • 3 Coal
  • 2 Gold
  • 2 Mithril
  • 2 Adamantite

This mine has some of every rock except clay and runite, but is especially useful for power-mining iron. There is a space, in the north of the mine, where one can stand and mine 3 iron rocks by just turning around. Unfortunately, many people know of this so is usually quite crowded. For miners below combat level 29, the scorpions here are aggressive.

Bandit Camp Mine

North-East of the Bandit Camp.

Contains:

  • 16 Iron
  • 31 Coal
  • 19 Mithril
  • 8 Adamantite

A good high level mine, rivaling the Mining Guild for coal but with far more mithril and adamantite. The largest concentration of mithril and adamantite rocks in F2P Runescape is here. WARNING: This mine is in mid-level wilderness and is populated by many skeletons, which are aggressive depending on your combat level. Watch out for Player Killers!

Barbarian Village Mine

Contains:

  • 5 Tin
  • 4 Coal

Fairly close to Edgeville and Varrock West Bank and and often mostly used by low level miners. If you have a good pickaxe and mining level the coal will come quite quickly here. But overall, there are much better mining sites than this.

Champions' Guild Mine

Contains:

  • 3 Clay
  • 8 Tin
  • 3 Iron
  • 3 Silver

Too small to be of much use to any except very low levels but can be useful for iron and silver mining.

Crafting Guild Mine

Contains:

  • 6 Clay
  • 6 Silver
  • 7 Gold

Almost always deserted, with more gold rocks than anywhere else on F2P. As this mine is accessible only through the Crafting Guild, you will need level 40 crafting and a brown apron to enter. Unfortunately, this mine is quite far from the nearest bank in Falador.

Crandor Isle

Contains:

  • 10 Coal
  • 3 Gold
  • 8 Mithril
  • 3 Adamantite

After completing Dragon Slayer, this mine can be useful but Crandor has several Lesser Demons which can be dangerous to the unprepared. Nearest bank is Draynor, but a fare of 30gp is charged for the boat.

Dwarven Mine

Contains:

  • 5 Clay
  • 7 Copper
  • 11 Tin
  • 12 Iron
  • 8 Coal
  • 2 Gold
  • 2 Mithril
  • 3 Adamantite

The biggest mine in F2P Runescape. Has a few of most ores but has a thriving population of Scorpions at the Southern tip. Unfortunately, the Dwarf Mines are almost always crowded. Nurmof sells pickaxes at the northern end of the mines, with an ore shop next door.

Edgeville Dungeon

Contains:

  • 2 Copper
  • 2 Tin
  • 3 Iron
  • 3 Silver
  • 6 Coal
  • 1 Mithril
  • 2 Adamantite

A very useful mine guarded by Skeletons. To enter, go through trapdoor in the corner of Edgeville crypt.

North Edgeville Mine

Just north of Edgeville.

Contains:

  • 3 Coal
  • 2 Iron

In my experience, this mine is just too small to bother with.

Hobgoblin Mine

North of Edgeville.

Contains:

  • 34 Coal

A brilliant coal mining site (although a long way from the nearest bank in Edgeville), but has very many aggressive hobgoblins. Watch out for PKers. Note: there is a furnace just east of here in the Ruins.

Ice Caves

South of Port Sarim.

Contains:

  • 4 Blurite

The only mine where Blurite can be found. Low levels beware of Ice Warriors and Giants near the rocks.

Karamja Volcano Mine

Contains:

  • 4 Gold

A good gold mining spot, normally with very few other miners. The nearest bank for non-members is Draynor, quite a long way away.

Lava Maze Mine

Contains:

  • 2 Runite

The only mine in F2P Runescape with runite rocks. An essential for high level miners, this mine is a hot spot for PKers wanting to catch a miner with a load of runite. It is always best to send a low level scout ahead of you as, quite often, the rocks are already mined or swarming with PKers. Be very careful.

East Lumbridge Swamp

Contains:

  • 5 Copper
  • 5 Tin

Useful for very low level miners but otherwise not worth the effort. The mining tutor wanders around this mine.

West Lumbridge Swamp

Contains:

  • 7 Coal
  • 5 Mithril
  • 2 Adamantite

A useful higher level mine as it is quite close to Draynor bank. Very useful for higher level power-miners and is almost always deserted.

Mining Guild

Contains:

  • 34 Coal
  • 5 Mithril

The easiest place to mine coal for level 60+ miners. Very close to Falador East bank and often crowded but there's usually enough coal for everyone.

Rimmington Mine

Contains:

  • 2 Clay
  • 5 Copper
  • 2 Tin
  • 6 Iron
  • 2 Gold

In my opinion Rimmington is an underrated mine. Good for low levels but can get a bit tedious for higher levels as it is quite far from the nearest bank in Falador. If you have a runner to carry ores for you Rimmington is very useful.

South-East Varrock

Contains:

  • 9 Copper
  • 6 Tin
  • 4 Iron

This mine is close to Varrock East bank and useful for low level miners. Used mostly for its iron rock.

This guide is pretty good creator, but i have a different plan.

World 5 at falador mines have iron rocks that are deserted most of the time. When u get an inventory run to the party room and put the ores in.Then run back and repeat. This way is faster coz droppin takes alot of time and also meanin that you'll get xp slower.
