Trying to make a living in world one can be both rewarding and frustrating. Read this guide to help yourself sort things out.
As many of you know, trading in Varrock World 1 can be a little hectic. But at the same token, it can be very rewarding. People make millions in World 1 and maybe you ask yourself, “How?” With a little luck and determination, you too could make millions in this highly competitive environment.
Beginning at the Varrock West bank:
The area inside the bank is generally used for bank sales, selling limpwurt roots, selling red spiders' eggs, buying addy armor, and all other minor things. If you can quickly locate anybody selling these items at below the going price, do not hesitate to trade them.
The area inside the bank in the room with the stairs is used strictly for rune selling and buying. Here you can buy runes for a wide variety of prices, where bulk will bring down the price. There are noobs here selling laws at 1k each, but don't get angry with the area.
Downstairs in the bank is usually people selling random things, so go down here if you want to add a little flavor to your life. People might also say, “Drop party downstairs!” This place is what they mean. Other people down here are usually selling random trimmed armor.
The area immediately south of the bank is used for mostly selling and buying lobsters, runes, willows, yews, or ammys. Look out for scammers selling the yews at a low price, though.
The area outside on the southwest corner of the bank is strictly for yews and big bones. Again, beware of scammers: know the difference between bones and big bones. That is a common scam.
The west wall outside the bank is a common area for bank sales and trimmed armor selling, rune (g) and (t) in particular.
The northwest corner is home to more bank sales (these tend to be on the wealthier side) and trimmed armor. This is also an area where rares are sold.
The north side of the bank is home to all god armor as well as all rares. Beware of the constantly fluctuating prices, the constant attempts of high-level scammers, and be on the lookout for bargain prices. This is the ultimate test for a merchanter.
The northeast corner of the bank is home to all addy (t) and (g), black (g) and (t), and intermediate bank sales.
The east side of the bank is home to all things rune: from armor to weapons. This is a very easy place to make 10k a pop on selling full runes after buying them for a lower price. Recommended for beginner merchanters.
On rare occasions, the area northeast of the bank on the other side of the wall is home to people selling partyhats and other expensive rares.
Moving to Center Varrock:
The area around the fountain is reserved for beginners selling runes, armor, and all other things. There are usually people here screaming for false drop parties; follow them only if you want to.
Ending at East Bank:
All around this bank is a great place to sell or buy ess, runes, or food. Also a place for very beginner bank sales and such.
Falador East Bank:
Though not as hectic as Varrock West, this bank can get a bit busy. Ores and bars are the number one thing bought and sold here. Coal is usually sold in large quantities, along with iron. You can sometimes find the very high level player selling these ores for really low or buying them for abnormally high prices. Be on your toes and maybe you could fetch yourself a little extra profit in your merchanting escapades!
Tips for the Wise:
Always check and double check the second trade screen. Don't be a victim of a scam!
Turn your chat on “Hide,” so you can more easily see who wants to trade you.
Yell out your name as well as the thing you're selling so people know who to trade. If people are buying or selling and you want to trade them but they don't put their name up, scan the chat box as quick as you can every time they say it to see who it is.
Trade people ONCE and only once. You can space them out by a minute if they aren't responding, but if your trade screen is canceled by your silly trading rampages, you might lose the deal. If this does happen, just wait and don't trade them again right away; it is really annoying. Let them trade you.
Refrain from trading with level 3's. They are destroying the game with their macroing.
Let me know what you think or comment to add some information. Thanks!

i find the end part about "don't trade with lvl 3's" very offensive. I am a lvl 3 by choice, and am very skilled in mining, smelting and crafting, and have never once used a macro.
