Exploring the Four Great Cities of Runescape - F2p

Marked on the maps below are some important places that you should know about. There are other interesting places aside from the ones labeled below, but that's up to you to find out.

Varrock “Trade Central”

Legend:

  1. Entrance to Hill Giants - Brass Key required to enter. A Brass Key respawns downstairs.
  2. Cooking Guild - features: Windmill, cooking range, water source, cooking equipment and food. A Cooking level of 32 and a chefs' hat worn are required to enter. A nearby wheat field can be found outside.
  3. The Grand Exchange - The Grand Exchange is the “center” of all trades. Buy and sell items to other players here.
  4. Apothecary - If you want strength potions, you can visit the Apothecary, just west of the Swords Shop. You need to bring him the following items for a vial of Strength Potion (4): 5gp, limpwurt root and red spiders' eggs.
  5. Thessalia's Clothes Shop - You can buy a variety of clothes and change your outfit here for 2,000gp. If you have a frog token, this is also the place for you to exchange them for either of the following: Frog Mask (male or female), Prince Outfit (male) or Princess Outfit (female).
  6. Entrance to Varrock Sewers - The Varrock Sewers is a home for the following monsters: Giant Rats, Skeletons, Zombies, Ghosts, Deadly Red Spiders and Moss Giants. This is a good training spot.
  7. Aubury's Magic Shop - You can buy runes here. The rune essence mine can be accessed from here also by speaking with Aubury. Completion of the quest “Rune Mysteries” is required to teleport to the Rune Essence Mine.
  8. Champions' Guild - Starting point of the hardest quest in f2p, the “Dragon Slayer”. You can buy many valuable items here such as: rune armour and weaponry and green dragonhide items. You need to have at least 32 quest points to enter here.
  9. Varrock Museum - Learn about the history of Runescape and other things here

Falador “City of the White Knights”

Legend:

  1. Make-over Mage - The Make-over Mage has the ability to alter your skin color or your gender for a price
  2. Crafting Guild - features: coal, silver and clay mine, potters' wheel, spinning wheel, water source, tannery and crafting equipment. A Crafting level of 40 and a brown apron worn are required to enter. A herd of sheep can be found north of the Crafting Guild in case you need some wool.
  3. Hobgoblins - A few Hobgoblins can be found here. They drop limpwurt roots at a good ratio and they can be trained on.
  4. Yew trees - Three yew trees can be found by the south exit of Falador
  5. Farm - You can find chickens and cows here. You can also find eggs and buckets that respawn inside.
  6. Hairdresser - Change your hairdo or beard (male) here
  7. Pub - You can buy ales that give special effects here. The store sells: Dwarven Stout (Mining +1, Smithing +1), Asgarnian Ale (Strength +2), Wizard's Mind Bomb (Magic +2 to 3) and Chef's Delight (Cooking +1 to 5).
  8. Party Room - The Party Room is a place where parties are held. It features: drop parties, dancing knights and a bar.
  9. Entrance to the Dwarven Mine - The Dwarven Mine has lots of precious ores such as: iron, coal, mithril, adamantite and gold. Beware of Scorpions.
  10. Entrance to the Mining Guild - You can access the Mining Guild through these ladders. The Mining Guild has lots of coal and some mithril rocks. A Mining level of 60 is required to enter.

Al Kharid “City in the Desert”

Legend:

  1. Gate - a shortcut to Lumbridge. A payment of 10gp is required to pass through. Completion of the quest “Prince Ali Rescue” will grant you free usage of this gate anytime.
  2. Al Kharid Mine - site of precious ores such as: silver, gold, iron, coal, mithril and adamantite. Beware of Scorpions.
  3. Duel Arena - Fight other people in a one-on-one combat here. You may alter the options to suit your fighting style. Choose between friendly duels and staked duels.
  4. Challenge Hall - This is where you go to start participating in the Duel Arena. In this hall, there will be an extra option: “Challenge (Player Name)”. Click on this option to begin a fight.
  5. Gem Trader - buys and sells uncut and cut gems
  6. Tannery - bring your cowhides here with some money to change them to either soft-leather or hard-leather
  7. Crafting Shop - sells equipments that a Crafter needs
  8. Al Kharid Palace - multi-combat area where you can train on Al Kharid Warriors

Lumbridge “Hometown”

Legend:

  1. Chickens - Some chickens can be found here for new players to train on. You can get some eggs and feathers from this place.
  2. Cows - Cows and Dairy Cows can be found here for new players to train on. You can find lots of cowhide here.
  3. Sheep - get your supply of wool here. A pair of shears respawns inside a small house west of this place.
  4. Gate - a shortcut to Al Kharid. A payment of 10gp is required to pass through. Completion of the quest “Prince Ali Rescue” will grant you free usage of this gate anytime.
  5. Yew Trees - Some yew trees can be found in this place
  6. Lumbridge Castle - features: cooking range, spinning wheel and a bank. Starting point of some quests.
  7. Lumbridge Church - You can renew your Prayer points here. If you want to upgrade your Gravestone, just talk to the priest inside. Completion of the quest “Restless Ghost” is required to upgrade your Gravestone.
  8. Bob's Axe Shop - sells axes. You can ask Bob to repair your broken pickaxe or woodcutting axe.
