Different Types of Pures in Runescape

This is a guide explaining all of the different types of pures in Runescape.

Abbreviations Used:

  • F2P- Free to play
  • P2P- Pay to play
  • Scimmy- Scimitar
  • Baxe- Battle Axe
  • Pk- Player Kill
  • Ammy- Amulet
  • Dhide- Dragon hide
  • 2h- Two Hander
  • Wild- Wilderness
  • Obby- Obsidian

What is a Pure?

First off a pure is a character that raises only one or a few combat based skills so their combat level is lower but they hit much harder.

What are Combat Based Skills?

Combat based skills are skills that raise your combat level, all of the skills are hit points, range, magic, attack, strength, defense, and prayer.

F2P Pures

  • Melee Pure- Perhaps the most common type of pure they raise only their attack and their strength. They raise their attack until 40 then stop raising their attack then they level up their strength to a really high level, at least 60 if you plan to pk. Their equipment consists of full iron (because they have 1 defense), boots, gloves, ammy of strength , and a rune scimmy or a rune baxe for a weapon.
  • Range Pures- Another popular pure is the range pure they raise only their range level. Raise your range till at least 60 before you go pking. Their equipment consists of boots, green dhide vambraces, green dhide legs, leather body, coif, ammy of power, whatever arrows you want to use, and a maple short bow.
  • Mage Pures- Not as popular but is still very powerful. They usually wear full blue or black wizards robes, a staff of their choice, plenty of runes, and boots, gloves, ammy of magic. You can train your magic until level 99 and you will only have a combat level of around 40!
  • Hybrids- These pures raise every combat skill except for defense. They were many different types of equipment they use because they have such a wide array of abilities, they use all of the equipment listed above.
  • 2h/Range Pures- This a range pure and a melee pure combined so use the tips above to raise it's level and then go into the wild dressed as a ranger once someone gets close enough to hit you with melee switch to a rune 2h and do some major damage. They use a combo of melee armor and range armor.
  • Prayer Pure- These pures are melee pures that have raised their prayer to at least 25. They use prayer boosts to pk in the wild. Their equipment consists of monk robes, a rune mace (because of the prayer bonus), a holy symbol, boots, gloves, iron full helm, and iron kite.

P2P Pures

Obby Maul Pure- These pures raise only their strength and prayer because obby mauls only require 60 strength to use and no attack levels. Their equipment consists of obby maul, iron full helm, iron plate body, iron plate legs, ammy of glory or a ammy of fury, boots, and gloves.

Now I know I have already covered the following but different rules apply for members.

  • Melee Pure- They use a dragon scimmy or baxe instead of a rune one, they also use an ammy of glory or an ammy of fury. Other than that they wear the same things.
  • Range Pures- Switch the green dhide with black dhide and switch the bow with a magic bow or crystal bow, and switch ammy for a ammy of glory or a a ammy of fury. Also if you can afford it buy some ranger boots and a robin hood hat.
  • Mage Pures- Switch the wizard robes for ghostly robes, change your ammy to ammy of glory or ammy of furry.
  • Hybrids- Just switch the items to the ones listed above.
  • 2h/Range Pures- Switch to a Dragon 2h, switch to a magic or crystal bow, and then switch to black dhide, and also equip a ammy of glory or an ammy of fury.
  • Prayer Pure- Just switch the rune mace to a dragon mace, then change the shield for a prayer book, and finally switch the holy symbol to an unholy symbol.

I am sorry if I didn't include all of them but I tried my best and listed every one that I know.

u forgot tankers, pure range and magic.
the range is good against mages and archers while the magic slays warriors. they usually wear magic equipment because it adds magic and doesnt subtract range.
