Common Scams in Runescape

There are always people trying to take advantage of less fortunate people. These people are considered scammers. You will not get scammed if you don’t talk to these sly people, but you don’t always know whom these sneaky people are. In this guide I will show the top scams that those devious people use to take your precious items.

Item Duplicator Scam:

This is where someone offers to “dupe” (duplicate) your Runescape items for free! Sounds too good to be true and yes, it is. This scammer just wants to take your items and run. If you give him your items you want to dupe there is really no way to get them back even if you contact Jagex.

The Personal Item Duplicator Scam:

This is where someone tells you how to easily duplicate your items. He will tell you to go to a non-crowded place, drop the items that you want to dupe on the ground, and then hit: ALT+F4. As soon as you hit alt + F4 it will close your Runescape window and log you out, it will give the scammer time to take your items and easily get away. Once again there is NO way to dupe items (or anything) in Runescape and if you fall into one of these traps there is no way to get your items back.

Password Scam:

Often people are bored and want to mess up your day. They will say something like: “Look Jagex Blocks your Pass *******” then when you type in your password it will not block it and the scammer now has another account. Even though you can get your account back they will probably get your it they will have probably already taken your items before you can change your password.

Email Scam:

This is probably the most annoying scam out there (and most popular) the scammer will say something like: “I work at Jagex and am bored so just fill in this form and e-mail it, don’t abuse it or I will get banned!” Then they add something that looks like something complicated like:

454a6a64eb6’,”USERNAME”,’46546789y4be9 789743:”,”PASSWORD”,”7897456 723u456;///{[ACCOUNT YOU WANT TO HACK]}\;46546g999

They make something like that up and once you email your username and password you just lost your account again!

In the end there is really no way to cheat in Runescape (Unless you have a Macro which will be posted soon) so if something sounds too good to be true it probably is.
