A Guide to Flax, Bowstrings and Battle Staving in Runescepe

This Runescape guide will tell you how to make money with flax, bowstrings and battle staving.

There are many different ways too make money on Runescape and the economy is rising rapidly. If you want different ideas on how too make money for that abyssal whip or something else like the new dragon full helm than I suggest you read some tips.

Note: These tips are for members since non member money making is pretty difficult unless you player kill.

Also as you know making money in Runescape requires tedious work and time so don't expect too make one mill a minute unless your really lucky. By the way this guide is more concentrated on battle staving for water than a variety of ways to make money.

Flax Picking:

Flax picking is a pretty good way too make money in the members world and I suggest doing this if you're sort of low level since this will supply you with more than enough money than you need unless your planning on buying a Santa hat or Easter egg (If you do get an Easter egg don't eat it LOL). I suggest you pick flax in Seers village since the flax is close to the bank though there are other places but they are a bit difficult too get too without doing a master quest.

Even though there is a lot of people flax respawns fast so it isn't like waiting for coal in Falodor if there is a lot of people in the dwarves mine. Flax has no level or quest requirement and you simply pick it up and each flax produces a different number of flax you get. The most I ever got was about 20 though I was lucky. You really just have too pick a full inventory of flax and run too the bank.

You should wear the boots of lightness and spotted cape so you won't lose too much running energy as flax is about 8 kg. Flax's street price is 85-100 gold but most just buy it for a hundred gold each so 1k flax= 100k gold.

Bowstring Making:

A common way like flax selling too make money. Bowstrings sell for a good price and are easy to produce. I suggest going too seers too to make bowstrings like flax. To make a bowstring you need a low 10 crafting and bowstring making is very good to level up your crafting level. For me I leveled up about forty levels with bowstrings and I now have 60 crafting.

There are many buyers to bowstrings so it isn't much trouble too find a buyer in a crowded world. Other than picking your own flax and spinning it you could do a slower way that doesn't require picking but buying your own flax for 100 gold each than spinning it too sell.

The price of a bowstring is 185-190 gold which is good money but some most just buy it for 200 gold each too make it simple or some buy it for 150 gold so do not sell any strings to them since its really ripping yourself off. A whole inventory of bowstrings is 5600 gold if each string is 200 so 1k of bowstrings is 200k.

Battle Staving:

Not many really battle stave in my opinion and it is very dangerous and requires a start up fee and a certain crafting level though its pretty good money in the end. I will only be talking about making WATER and Fire battle staffs so don't think your going to the fire obelisk on the island near Catherby's short.

The requirements' are a high combat level, anti-dragon fire shield (unless you want to get burned by dragon breath), water staff/fire staff or higher, cosmic runes, 56 magic and 54 crafting, 43 prayer unless you can take the hits, anti poison potion (bring one for safety), games necklace, 25 uncharged orbs (soda ash with bucket of sand and than glass blowing pipe, no food (don't be too safe or battle staving is a waste of time), armor or monk robes for prayer, dusty key (unless you have 70 agility), and knowledge of where to go in the dungeon (Taverly).

Go down in the dungeon and walk past the skeletons and chaos druids. Keep going till you reach the magic axes but there's no real need to run so once your out of the room walk past the scorpions till you get too the bridge. Start running but don't turn on your prayer and run past the chaos dwarves and lesser demons. Than turn on protect from melee and use your dusty key to run past the dragons.

Note: if you like risks don't bring a anti-dragon fire shield since many people fight the blue dragons or baby blue dragons. There are more baby blue dragons so run past them and you'll see black demons so run past them also.

Be sure to have protect from melee on unless you have good defense and armor. You'll meet poisonous spiders so still use prayer and finally you'll see a ladder with black dragons so quickly go up the ladder and your safe on a small island next to Catherby's shore so say hi to the fishermen/women.

The spell requires three cosmic runes and thirty water runes (take a water staff or higher) so you'll need seventy-five cosmic for 25 orbs. When your done charging teleport to Burthrope with the game necklace and recharge your prayer at the circle of druids. Also bank at the warriors guild or rogues den to get new orbs and walk back to the dungeon entrance.

When your at the black dragons for fire go the opposite direction of the ladder and you'll find yourself at the fire obelisk so teleport and repeat like water battle staving.

After charging all your orbs into water orbs/fire orbs you will need some money depending on the amount of orbs you charged. Buy battle staffs (about 7k each) from either Zaff or the wizards guild and the each stock has five and the restocking takes a long time so you should world hop. When you have enough battle staffs attach them to the orbs and you have a fire/water battle staff.

You can either sell the battle staffs or you could use high alchemy on them which I recommend. When you use alchemy on either water/fire battle staff you will get 9.3k so you get about 2k more gold than you started for each staff!

This method is not the fastest way of making money but a way to train magic and crafting at the same time and making some cash along the way.
