I've been searching for the perfect free mmorpg with great graphics, game play, character customization, unique features, and decent quests. Well, I got much more than that; I got a Perfect World. The game Perfect World is for the PC, an mmorpg, that is free to download and free to play.
Character Creation
Have you ever wanted to create a character in a game that looks like you? Or do you prefer to create someone else entirely? In a Perfect World you are virtually unlimited. There are a variety of hairstyles for each character class, fully customizable faces from the way the eye sets and are shaped to the character's lips and ears. You can have any skin tone from very human looking shades to blue, green, pink, and purple hues or even albino white. Similarly you can have any eye and hair color with a multitude of shades for each color. The character's hair can be straight, wavy, or slightly streaked for each hair style. Eyebrows can be dyed a matching color as the hair or something entirely different. Both the male and female characters can have a variety of eye shadowing that may also be color adjusted.
The character creation doesn't stop at the face; you can go beyond by changing the character's build from head to toe. For the females you can even mandate their breast size; however this feature is not available for the men.
For players looking for something less complicated there are "Handy" preset characters made, which all of the above edits can be made to or left simply as they are.
Each class of character has their own unique customization abilities. Try each one and find the perfect character(s) for you in your Perfect World.
Possibilities
Flying
Possibilities? …They are endless. In this game you have few boundaries; especially once you advance higher in level. For starters most all objects you see can be stood upon. Buildings, city monuments, structures, rocks, plateaus, and branches that are spacious enough for your character. How does one propose to get on such said objects? Your character can double jump, and each jump covers a great distance. But why stop at jumping? Why not fly until you can touch the clouds? The Elfwing class allows you to fly at level 1 with beautiful and detailed wings. You can soar across the lands from great heights or over bodies of water, or away from a battle you are rapidly losing. For the other classes, you can obtain wings, flying objects, or mounts, that grant you the same ability in your own style once you reach a certain level and can cough up the gold.
Crafting
In this Perfect World there a lot of abilities. One particular ability is learning how to craft a slew of things. You can learn to become a Blacksmith (weaponry), a Tailor (armor), a Pharmacist (medicine/potions), or a Jeweler (enchanted jewelry). Don't limit yourself to just one Production Skill. You can learn all four without much trouble. Mastering them is another story though. To craft though you need certain materials you can find throughout the world, "mining" them or digging up the herbs and plants. Other materials needed are dropped by mobs (the enemies) and can be collected by killing these certain monsters. Bring these to the NPC's in each town that specialize in the specific craft (such as the Tailor) and "produce" the items your Crafting Level and material limit allows.
The beauty about crafting is that you'll usually get different stats and enhancements for the item you create each time you create and re-create it. There is a likeliness that you will get better stats and defense upgrades by crafting the armor than buying it. The better your crafting turns out the more you can sell the item for. Each item you craft will have your character's name engraved in it to show off your craftsmanship.
Fashion, Housing, & Guilds
While a Perfect World is a fantasy adventure with monster fighting and leveling up madly, it offers more for players willing to put in a good deal of time and on occasion, a little bit of real money. PW offers a Fashion system. While the armor and typical clothing is stylish, you can also get more normal and casual attires. Your wardrobe can range from a pair of swimming trunks to a fancy dress. However, to acquire this sort of clothing you'd have to buy it from Perfect World's Item Mall or pay heaps of in-game gold to buy the articles of clothing off other players selling them.
Much later into the game there are housing and territory options that let you design your own home and its surroundings to show off to friends and enjoy. In this Perfect World the hero will need a place to settle down and bask the good life.
I'm not totally bashing it, however : the character customization is absolutely wonderful indeed and it's a real pleasure to work on face like an artist working on a new creation.
Beautiful, yes; fun for some time, yes; perfect, no.
