Costs to play the game
As it says on the title, the game is 100% free, although you can buy extra items on the web site if you want, I advise you to try it, you have nothing to loose, only almost 700mb of download, which can take a wile.
Races
When you first start to play, you can choose between 4 kinds of races: the centaurs, the mages, the humans (of course) and the cyborgs. Each one with their own skills.
After you choose your race, you can choose between male and female, each with their own skills too.
Although you can't edit it, you will see all the mages identical to each other, no matter what level are they.
Combat
Nowadays most of the RGP online are in real time battle, but myth war is something different, the battles are in turns and it reminds us of the battle type of final fantasy for PS1.
For example, you are in a cave, a suddenly, somehow, you are teleported to a battlefield, to face random monsters, which can be a real drag especially when you're in a hurry. Of course the option escape, on the battle menu is available, but not always you can run away in the first turn.
You have ATB (active time battle) bar, and when that bar is filled up you can attack, and you must wait until it fills up, to have your turn again.
To challenge other players to a battle you must click, on a sword icon and them on the player you want to battle.
Skills
Each race you choose starts with four skills, as you gain level, you may consult the skill trainer and gain more, a good aspect of the skills is that are plenty, but plenty of them, for example when you reach level 15, consult the skill trainer to learn more.
When you use a skill, exp for that skill is gained, so you can increase the level of that skill to more damage.
Basic skills like fire, death, multi shot, heal, and ultra destructible skills very nice to see.
You can marry to a player, and use combined destructible skills.
Or gain more skills for using a certain kind of weapon.
Parties
What is a RPG without parties? The answer is nothing, so you can join parties, which is very important, because not also increases you level very faster but also is necessary to surpass caves and to do certain quests.
A guy creates a party and a flag icon appears over his head, other players can click on him to ask to join the party, and the leader approves or not.
When you're in a party, you can't move your character, it just follows the leader and nothing else, and you can only access your inventory, status etc, and battle of course.
Pets
Oh yes, myth war also have pets, pets that can help you battle (its like a second character you control).
You can have pets by doing quests, buying eggs to other players, or simply capture them.
When you receive an egg, you need to find a certain NPC that can hatch your egg.
Your pet also have a level, and his own skills too.
You can also set the pet to follow you outside the battles just to show off.
You don't need to feed him, wash him or anything like that. The only thing you have to do is make sure that your pet doesn't die often, or he may disobey you. Of course there are items that prevent that.
Pets like, lions, bats, centipedes, chickens, giants, demons, and even santa.
Graphics
The graphics, as you expect are nothing like world of warcraft, guild wars etc, a 100% free online game… what would you be waiting for?
It does not use 3D engine, but the game is not totally 2D, you can move to any direction you like.
Personally I like the graphics; they are hand painted, and very colourful, giving a fantasy design to the world map.
The first city (woodlindor) is very colourful and pretty, I really liked it.
And the skills to be performed, it's a really nice thing to see.
Don't trust the screenshots you see on the net, it make you think that they are awfully bad, it reminds final fantasy 3 and 4. But I advise you to see for yourself in the game.
World map
The world map is kinda huge, but it can be a real boring thing to go to a city, for another, and with the monsters showing up here and there… it is really not my thing, that's why it exists lots of teleport NCP and items.
There are all kinds of cities, deserts, forests, caves, etc.
