There are plenty of free online role playing games that you could play.
Why role playing?
They are really addictive, unlike other games, that you play for an hour and stop playing it. Role playing games should keep boredom away for few months. I recommend silkroad and Imperia online, if we speak about the free ones. If you are willing to pay for a really good game, choose World of Warcraft or Guild Wars. If you choose World of Warcraft (WoW) , you have to pay for it every month, and as for Guild Wars, you only have to pay once.
Please note, that these games need a good computer.
If you have a slower computer, I recommend you playing browser based games, such as Runescape, Travian and Tribal wars. Those games are addicting too.

Of course there is. Communication, reading e-books and other things. But I think playing computer games is the best way.
