Games People Play in Internet Forums

Internet forums are everywhere and millions of people all over the use these forums to chat, debate and best of all, play games. The best games are the ones that are easy to learn and even easier to play. Here are the five best games that people play in Internet forums.

Internet Scavenger Hunt

While this is a relatively new version of a childhood game that we use to play when we were kids, the Internet forum version of Scavenger Hunt is quite fun. This game requires a little bit of thought and time, but it is worth it, because it is fun.

Playing Internet Scavenger Hunt is quite simple. One player starts the game off by telling the other players that he/she wants them to find a photo of heart-shaped pool, then once another player posts the link to the photo of the heart-shape pool onto the thread, then that player (the player that posted the picture) has the opportunity to add the next item to be found during the Scavenger Hunt. Players can request photos, music, videos and trivia of things that they want the other players to find.

Prime Numbers Association

Played much like Word Association, this game involves a great deal of concentration and knowledge about prime numbers. This is a fun game for those who like math, but not for those who don't like math.

"A prime number is a natural number (1, 2, 3...) that has exactly two distinct natural number divisors, which are one and the prime number itself", according to Matt (a member of BoardGameGeek.)

The game is played, just like word association, but using only prime numbers.

For example:

Player 1 starts with prime number: 02

Player 2 answers back with prime number: 03

Player 3 replies next with prime number: 07

Player 4 chimes in with prime number: 11

And, this game will continue this way until both the chain has gotten too long and the prime numbers big to continue or the players decide to abandon the game.

Hang Man

This is an oldie, but goodie and just about everyone knows how to play this game. One player chooses a word, and then challenges all of the other players to try to solve the hidden word by picking letters while trying to fill in enough word blanks, so to solve the word before anyone else does before you.

For example:

Player 1 chooses a word and it has eight letters: _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
Player 2 chooses the letter: A

Player 1 reveals any blank that an A appears: _ A _ _ _ _ A _
Player 3 chooses the letter: C
Player 1 reveals that there isn't any letter C in the word and announce that there is a head now hanging and only five more possible misses, before the body is completed and the game is over.

Player 4 chooses the letter: L

Player 1 reveals any blanks that a L appears: _ A _ L _ _ A _
Player 5 chooses the letter: S

Player 1 reveals any blanks that a S appears: S A _ L _ _ A _

Player 6 takes a word guess: SAILBOAT
Player 1 confirms that Player 6 guess is correct.
Player 6 is the winner and gets to choose the next word.

Email (RPG) Role Playing Game

This is a game that I have not seen in too many forums, but for those people who enjoy playing a more in-depth game that can last for months, then this is the game for you. Depending on the forum, website or social networking site, then the type of RPG being played may very.

One of the best places to find and learn how these games are played or to join into an active game is at Board Game Geek. The best way to describe a RPG is that players are given an identity, mission and tools to complete their mission. Players assume the role of their character throughout the entire game. An RPG is a evolving story that the players are active members of the cast and each are responsible to adding elements to the story that will effect the other players and the outcome of the game.

Every RPG is different, so be sure to read the rules or ask another player who has been playing the game to show you how to play.

Word Association

This game is one of the all-time favorites in Internet forums across the web. The game is simple. One person starts the game by posting a word and then, the next person adds a new word that is associated with the last word that was posted.

For example:

Player 1 word is: Apple

Player 2 word is: Tree

Player 3 word is: Top

Player 4 word is: Spin

In Word Association is not a win and lose type of game, it is all about consistently growing the word association chain over long periods of time.

The Word is: Ice Cream
