Game Slang

People speaking in gibberish? Fear not! The iFlush game slang guide is at your disposal.

Here is a list of gaming slang, abbreviations and terms and what they mean. I will attempt to update this as much as possible.

Term Meaning
AFK

Away from [the] keyboard - eg. I think Bob went AFK - I think Bob left the computer (Probably to go to the bathroom or to grab a drink)
NOTE: Usually people will use "BRB" (see below) if they will be gone for a second, ''AFK'' is usually to describe someone being ''AFK'' but sometimes is used like ''BRB''

BRB[I'll] Be right back - eg. BRB going to grab a drink - I will be away for about 30 seconds
BRT
[I'll] Be right there - When your friend asks you to come meet him (or something like that) you say this
LOLLaugh out loud or Laughing out loud - To laugh in games say this, though sometimes you may just be chuckling or smiling
LMAOLaughing my ass off - Same as above though used when something is extremely funny
ROFL

Rolling on [the] floor laughing - Obviously if you were on the floor you wouldn't be able to reach the keyboard, use like above
NOTE: Some people say "ROTFL" (T being "the") it means exactly the same thing
NOTE 2: The above 3  can be used in combination, eg. ROFLMAO or ROFLOL

FTW
For the Win - eg. RPG FTW - Means that something is really good like "rulz" (RPG RULZ)
Ding!
Most people say this to their party/friends/clan/guild when they level up.
NOTE: Most people don't care if you reach level 2 or level 10.
OWNTotally beats something - eg. RPG OWNS PISTOL!!!
NOTE: There are many variations to this such as: OWNS, OWNZ, OWNED, OWN3D, OWND, OWNGE, OWNAGE
PWN
Same as above but usally of a higher scale like: good, better, best. Like above there are many variations of this
OMW
[I'm] On my way - eg. Player 1:"GOD HELP US!!!" Player 2: "OMW" - Player 1 is getting attacked and Player 2 is saying he is coming to help. Same as "BRT" (Above)
NOTE: "OMW" Can be used in other situations too, like if your friend asks you to come to the marketplace
Gratz!
Short for congratulations - Self explanatory
NOTE: There are many variations of this: Congratz, Congrats, Grats
ATM
At the moment - eg. Player 1: "Wanna go kill some dragons?" Player 2: "Sorry, I'm busy ATM"
WTF?What the f@$%?? eg. WTF JUST HAPPENED HERE??? eg2. [You just get shot through a wall] WTF??!?
NOTE: Some people say "WTH" it's just a nicer way that means "What the hell?" or "What the heck?"
OMG
Oh my god!  eg. OMG THAT IS SO COOL!!!
NOTE: Some people define as "Oh my gosh" or "Oh my goodness"
JK
Just kidding - Better say it quick before some people take it seriously!
Sometimes said as "J/K"
STFU
Shut the f#%@ up - Nice people don't say this - But if your partner keeps blabbing on about how he can kill a dragon in 2 shots...
RL
Real Life - eg. I got a cute kitten in RL
NOTE: Sometimes you will hear "IRL" meaning "In real life"
MMORPG
Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game - eg. World of Warcraft, Guild WarsA
Variations: MMO, MMOG
FPS
First person shooter - eg. Call of Duty, SWAT4, FarCry
OOM
Out of mana - You say this so that your team healer or whatever can give you more mana - Used mainly on big raids or when fighting big monsters.
NOTE: There are many variations depending on your game such as: OOE (Energy/Endurance) OOP (Power) OOC (Concentration)
NOTE 2: OOH or OOHP  means out of health [points] or hitpoints but if you were you would be dead. This just means your low on health and that you need to be healed
GTG
Got to go - Yes most people have real lives (and I say most)
NOTE: Sometimes said as G2G, means exactly the same
IIRC
If I recall correctly - Self Explanatory - eg. The number of trolls we have to kill is 10 IIRC
IDK

I don't know - Self Explanatory - eg. Player 1: "Which way to the village?" Player 2: "IDK"

IDC
I don't care - Self Explanatory - eg. Player 1: "You want to be on the red team or blue team?" Player 2: "IDC"
Some people say "IDM" - "I don't mind"
MobA type of monster -  You kill these - eg.  Barbarians,  Dragons,  Lions etc.
Used mainly is MMORPGS
XP
Experience - Self Explanatory - eg. "I need 25 more XP til level 34"
NOTE: Some people say "EXP" means exactly the same thing
INC
INCOMING!!! - Say this to warn your team that their is a wave of monsters coming
ADD
Add, just like maths - Say this to warn your team that another monster has come
Agro
Aggressive - To describe monsters that attack when they get to close - eg. "Don't get too close to the Wolves, their agro!"
PvE
Player vs Enviroment - A place that is PvE means that players cannot attack each other (they are some exceptions in different games) - eg. "Server 4 is PvE"
PvP
Player vs Player - Opposite to above - eg. "Server 2 is PvP, go there and we can fight each other"
TK
Team Kill - eg. "Whoops sorry for the TK" - You may occasionally hear "TKer" meaning "Team killer" stay away from him!
PK
Player Kill - In some games you can bash up other players this is called PKing or Player killing
TY
Thank You - Self explanatory - Be kind and say this when someone gives you a million gold coins!
NOTE: "TYVM" mean "Thank you very much"

NP
No problem - eg. Player 1: "Thanks man! I really needed that sword" Player 2: "NP"
NVM
Never mind - Can't be bothered to explain something?
DC
Disconnected (also D/C) - When your just about to beat a dungeon and your game crashes, you come back and say "DC" to your friends so they know that you didn't purposely leave them in the middle of the dungeon
LagThe process of freezing for a second repetitively - Change server
NOTE: A "Lag Spike" is just a once off lag, which is usually quite long, if you only lag once don't go and get a new computer, usually if everyone lags at once it's the server's fault
Ping
The amount of lag your going to get on that server, the lower the ping the better, usually the closer the server is to you (eg. same country as you) the lower ping and less lag.
NOTE: If you see someone with "999" ping their probably still loading so no use talking to them
Newb
A newbie - a person new to the game, help them out as much as you can
Noob
Someone really annoying - eg. "What a noob"
IMPORTANT: Lots of people get mixed up and classifies a "Noob" as someone new to the game or a really unskilled player
Char
Character - eg. "Just a sec, I'm going to change to my better char" - self explanatory
LVL Level - Self Explanatory - eg. "I am lvl 16"
Main
The character you play the most - eg. "Just a second, I'll get out my main and we can kill those bears!"
Usually your best character
Alt
An alternate character that you are just starting with - eg. "Can I have that sword? My alt really needs a new sword" - Usually a lower level character
Acc
Account - Self Explanatory - eg. "I made a new acc called "Warrior""
LFG
Looking for group - Advertise yourself - eg. "Lvl 20 Archer LFG for Donut Eating Quest!"
LFM
Looking for more - Need more people in your group? - eg. "LFM for the Fishing Quest!"
NOTE: Most people will put a number after the "F" meaning they need x more people - eg. "LF2M for lvl 10 Dungeon!"
PPL
Short for people - Self Explanatory
Tele Short for teleport (also "TP") - Self Explanatory
Pls
Please (also "Plz") - be kind
WTB
Want to buy - eg. "WTB Great Sword for 30 gold!"
Variations: WTS (Sell), WTT (Trade)
