Welcome Back!
As a cheap person, I have spent a lot of time looking for free things and I've downloaded some of the lowest quality programs man has ever seen. Fortunately, there are still a few every once in a while that are actually worth a look. So as part of my online sacrifice, I'm here to share them with you.
Games
By now you've probably figured out that I have a tendency toward shooters and adventure games, so here are a few of those.
Minions of Mirth

Minions of Mirth is another 3D MMORPG/Adventure game with decent questing and pretty nice graphics for a freeware game. It needs a bit of polishing to make it great (one thing that stands out is the lack of a jump animation). It's surely worth a look though.
QWOP

This game deserves a spot on my list for the pure frustration factor. My current record is sort of a crippled hobble of 22 meters.
Sherwood Dungeon

This is a Shockwave game that you can play within a browser. That's right, these graphics are going on in my Safari window. Another great thing about a browser game is that all of your statistics are stored in cookies so no registration is required.
Urban Terror

Switching again from RPGs to FPSs, behold Urban Terror. This game has several interesting extra features that didn't exist in the other games I've told you about before. If you get shot, your character will continue to bleed, losing health until you bandage yourself. Additionally, if your legs are injured by bullets or by a fall, you won't be able to sprint as well.
Applications
I also occasionall have a need to actually do something productive, so here are some of the free applications I've found.
Copernicus
Also being a game developer, I've spent quite a lot of time looking for a free video screen capture program for demo videos of my games. So far Copernicus is the only thing that works well and is Mac-compatible.
Fetch
Great FTP/SFTP app.
jME
jMonkey Engine is an open source 3D Java engine designed for game development.
Safari Enhancer
Occasionally you will come across freeware that is, well, not so great. A while ago I was looking into a certain commercial RPG that recently went freeware. One of the most annoying things about it is that although it is cross-platform, the website only works on "Internet Explorer on Windows". Safari Enhancer will actually make Safari identify itself to websites as other browsers (it gives you an option on startup). Unfortunately the game was rubbish anyway, but that's the risk I take.
A Fond Farewell
I'd like to thank everyone who reads my articles and seems to trust my taste and stinginess. Be sure to check back soon for more from me!
