My Favorite Computer Games

Other than writing, I love computer games. Here are some of my favorites.

My two favorite websites are Reflexive and GameHouse. One drawback thought, they both have a lot of the same games, so take your pick.

There are however, a few games that are not on both sites.

My personal favorites are the match-3 and the hidden object types. Both sites have a lot of those. Right now, I'm going between “The Rise of Atlantis”, “Cradle of Rome” and occasionally “Cradle of Persia” in the match-3 genre. I have other match-3 games beside these, but these are my favorites.

Rise of Atlantis starts out easy, then gets harder…especially if you keep going, journey after journey. I just started Journey 5. It has been a month or so since I played it. The most challenging part is going through the last city: Troy. In one section there, you have to match through 3 rows of "ice". There is ice in a few of the other stages, there called, but as much as this one stage of Troy. After you get past the first “journey”, the second starts the little black blocks that you have to get around. These do not match up, sometimes it is a little hard to get around them, but if you have the bonus's, you can do it. The graphics easily move around. You collect pieces of artifacts as you play.

Cradle of Rome , is a little different…you get to "build" the city of Rome as you play. You get bonus's with this too, but when used once, you start over to fill them up again, as you play. Some are free, and some are "chained"… I find the hardest one's are the double-chained. The graphics are great, and move easily though-out the game.

Cradle of Persia is a little different match-3. It's more of "connecting" 3 matching blocks, then whole line moves when removed. As with Cradle of Rome, you are "building" Persia as you play. There are no chains here, but there are barriers you have to bust through. These are broken through by connecting the one's around them. As with Rome, once you use the bonus's, you keep playing to fill them up again.

I find all three games fun, relaxing and a great way to unwind after a hard day at work.

Hidden Object Games

I have several of these that I enjoy playing. “Bloodties”, the “Dream Day” series, “Interpol: The Trail of Dr Chaos”, “Hidden Relics” “Hidden Expedition” Titanic and the Mt Everest series, to name a few.

The hidden object games are all the same, you have a list and you find what's on the list in the allotted time they give you. The graphics in these are just great…. They look like the real object you're looking for.

Some have sound effects, like rusting papers, bells chiming, planes flying, etc.

I'm not much of a computer game player, but this is a nice article. Keep up the great work.

Best wishes.
