$10 Billion dollars. Which this made the most profitable entertainment industry in the world.
Arcade Gaming:
It started in 71'-72' all the way to 1980. These were the golden ages for arcade gaming. Atari, Pong, Galaxy, and more were invented! In 1979 and 1980, colored arcade games became more and more popular. This was the start of a nation wide turn into entertainment ever in history.
Computers:
In 1971, They made the first computer baseball game on a DEC PDP-10 mainframe.
Next generation: 1977-1983
When computers were in the works, Atari 2600 known as Video Computer System or VCS had 9 games installed into it. It got out in time for the holidays and one of the most popular of all the early consoles.
Also in the 80's: Online Gaming!
They started having adventure games and gambling games such as Blackjack. They didn't use real money, instead was used in points.
No one can forget this day... The Video Game Crash of 1983
This was more severe than 1977 crash. Several companies went bankrupt. This what ended the second generation and began another generation which can only get better!
Third Generation (1985-1989)
People started to wait for the arcade games to come out onto computers. More games came into play like Street Fighter, and my favorite, Mortal Kombat, and also NBA Jam.
Later on they had 4th generation, the 5th generation and the sixth. We are now living in the Seventh Generation of Gaming.
The seventh generation of course comes with ps3, wii, xbox 360 and all those good stuff..
