Five Games Every Gamer Should Own

They are all great games that I have played, and they have all impacted me as a gamer.

  1. Counter-Strike Source

  2. This game is totally based on multiplayer. It has a multiplayer engine that is extraordinary for its time. When playing, you take the role of a terrorist or a counter-terrorist. The goal is to kill all of the other team. The game usually comes as part of a pack where you get other multiplayer games.

  3. Super Mario 64

  4. This game is totally based on campaign. No multiplayer exists in this game. It was one of the first 3D games out there. It set the standard for 3D animation back when it was the new thing. When you played this game you were really excited for what was to come. From what we see today, we haven't been disappointed.

  5. Call of Duty 4

  6. This game has both a campaign and multiplayer, but its strength lies in its extensive multiplayer system. This game begs you to play it more with its challenges and prestige mode. While its campaign is good, many wish it had a co-op mode to help make it more fun. When the fun of multiplayer with friends is calling, it is hard to play by yourself in a very challenging campaign.

  7. Halo 3

  8. This game has a healthy mix of both multiplayer and campaign mode. It even has online co-op which can be played by 4 people simultaneously. This game raised the bar immensely in online gaming. Its party system, online, is a great feature that is now being utilized by many online games. The array of weapons and power-ups, as well as the Theater and Forge modes, really makes this game a spectacle of new age technology.

  9. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

  10. The Legend of Zelda OOT was released in November 1998 and it was the highest selling game that year. When people played it they couldn't put the game down until it was finished. In my case I played it many more times after that. It is the shining star that games with campaigns are compared to today. It has been re-released several times on the Gamecube and the Wii. Even with the new consoles, it is still fun to kick back and play some Zelda on the N64. The hours of playable content and fun easter eggs to find in this game are just some of the rewards. While sequels have tried to relive the glory, there is still only one Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
