Have you ever been on the internet and wanted to play a computer game, but not known what to play? Have you ever been at a store, either looking for a fun computer game, or looking for a computer game to buy as a present for a son or a daughter?
Finding a free or inexpensive, yet fun, game could take some hunting around the web, and could be very time consuming.
MMORPGs (Mega-Multiplayer-Online-Role-Playing-Games)
MMORPGs are very fun games, in which the character you play as (normally chosen from a list of possible characters) roams a created, online world. In this cyber world, your character moves and interacts with other real life people, playing with different and unique characters. As you meet new players, you begin working with them to obtain higher levels in the game.
Free and Fun
Two very fun, and free, MMORPGs are RuneScape and Knight Online.
Runescape is a free game which requires no download, and not much time to sign up and begin playing. Runescape is fun because you are not required to stay on the game for a long periods of time, allowing you to keep your life social with real world people along with online players. This MMORPG includes three types of possible characters, a great introduction and in game guide, and player vs. player battles in certain parts of the online world. It is a great game with mostly nice and friendly players.
Knight Onlineis also a fun and free MMORPG. This game although has a full screen feature, but the game requires a 700+ Megabyte download. Besides the large download, you will have loads of fun in this game. It contains a vast amount of land to explore, and is easy to learn how to play and begin growing levels.
Shopping for Games
When you are shopping for an online game, at a store (Wal-Mart, Best buy… etc.), you must be very careful about what you buy, because around 50% of the games are not worth buying. You must also make sure, if the game has a monthly fee, you are willing to pay. There are many fun online shooting games, such as Halo, but I enjoy more of the RPG games, such as Diablo, Guild Wars, and World of Warcraft.
Diablo/Guild Wars
Diablo and Guild Wars are both games where you can buy the game at a cheap price (ranging from $15 to around $50), and have unlimited playing time.
Diablois a unique game from other good MMORPGs. It allows you to wither play and explore on your own, or play and explore interactively with other players. This is a unique and fun option that many other games do not include, because personally I enjoy games that interact with other players, but on occasion, I want to play alone. This would be because of immature players, boredom, or the need for individual exploration.
World of Warcraft
World of Warcraft is different from the previously mentioned games. First of all, it requires a payment of $15 a month, including the 30 or so dollars to purchase the game, although you can get a discount if you pay for three months or more at a time. Another difference is that it requires a lot of time and commitment in order to become a decent player.
In the game, the players are extremely friendly and this alone makes the game fun to play. There is nearly no spam in the chat windows, and you can block the conversations of other people. As you play, it is a very good idea to make many friends, around the same level as you or higher, so that you can play the game with them or get advise from them.
As you play longer, and grow to higher levels, this game becomes extremely addictive and time consuming to the point where you are playing the game with every piece of free time in your life, excluding the things that really matter in life. I have had a bad experience with this as I had lost many friends, and wasted much of my sleeping time. Although it is addictive, it is also very fun, and hard to stop the addiction. As you begin raids and longer dungeons, they require you to be on the game for longer periods of time, even if you do not wish to be on any longer. If you are not an active player, then it is nearly impossible to grow to the status of a good player, and keep a good reputation.
If you do wish to try the game, it is very fun although expensive, and you must know what you are getting yourself into.
