Better Your Gaming Experience

Five ways you can increase the replay value and enjoyment from your video games.

Gaming is a major player in the entertainment industry. There are tons of games out there and even more people playing them. Below are a few tips to increase your satisfaction while playing a video game.

  1. Buying Smart

Do some research. There are forums all over the internet filled with gamers like you that dissect and analyze every aspect of a particular game. Visit the official page for the particular game you're interested in and look at the screenshots or watch the cinematic trailers. This will give you a good idea as to the pace and feel of the game.
  2. Take Your Time

A lot of gamers rush through a game and miss out on all the extra content that adds more spice and fulfillment to the game. This will increase the amount of play time and overall satisfaction knowing that you completed a game fully.
  3. Turn Up the Heat

If the game is too easy then crank up the difficulty. Some games are more difficult than others but it's all based on player aptitude. If all you play are first person shooters then turn up the heat on the new one you just purchased. In my experience the more difficult a game is the more accomplished you feel after completing it.
  4. Friends Don't Let Friends Game Alone

Some games offer a cooperative or head to head game type. Invite some friends over make some nachos and get your game on. Games that you beat solo can become an entirely new game once you add a friend or three. Some systems even support online experiences that allow you to play with people all across the world. This can make a game you haven't touched in months turn into a game you can't put down.
  5. Mix It Up

Some games have alternate endings or options for character progression. Try to follow a certain path each play through and you will increase the replay value of a game tenfold. If you played a straight up fighter the first time around give it another go as a magic user or a support unit. The second time through you'll have more freedom as you know how the events the future are going to take place and your knowledge of “what works” is much greater having already played through the game before. Doing this can make a game even more fun the second time around.

The reality is if you buy a game that suites you, take your time playing the game and exploring the environment, and make sure that it's at a skill level that's challenging your going to have tons of entertainment and have fun. That's what games are all about entertaining you and allowing you to escape, for a short time, the reality of confinements and day to days. Have fun and get your game on.
