The greatest and most influential video games ever.
Super Mario Brothers (NES)
This fun and imaginative game helped set the pace for some of the great games of this millennium. Who could ever forget Mario jumping and running across the screen with the famous theme song playing in the background?
Resident Evil 4 (GC)
This game had great graphics, AI, controls, story line and was all around a great first-person shooter. Who doesn't love blowing off zombies heads?
World of Warcraft (PC)
This Multi-Player Online Role playing game (MMORPG) is a phenomena that is sweeping the nation, and reasonably so. You feel as if you can pick up a sword and join the "Alliance" or "Hoard" yourself, with amazing variety in weapons, characters, and classes. Not to mention the fabulous graphics for an MMORPG.
StarCraft (PC)
This game is probably the greatest real-time strategy game ever. Even though it's only 10-years old, it continues to sell tremendously. Every race gives the chance to experience a new style and weapons to fight with. You can study strategies and weaknesses for yourself and your opponent, making it all the more realistic..
Half-Life 2 (xBox)
Although it is similar to many first-person shooter games, what sets it apart is the ingenuity in fighting those bad guys. You could interact with your environment opening up new and more fun ways to kill your enemies. Not even taking into consideration the variety of weapons (a Gravity Gun?) and the fantastic graphics making this a visual master piece.
Super Smash Bros. (N64)
There is nothing more invigorating and fun than kicking the crap out of Princess Peach and all the other Nintendo characters. Link vs. Mario or Kirby vs. Pikachu, you could get your friends together and fight with the greatest video game characters of the time. Even now, plugging in the old N64 and popping this game in is great. The graphics are great for a 64-bit system making the moment you pummel Pikachu's face all the more "magical" (if that's what you want to call it).
Guitar Hero (Series) (PS2)
You live the life of a rock star in this game. From getting gigs to playing the classics to an adoring crowd, this game gave you the star treatment (literally). I truly believe this series of game renewed the world's interests in the old rock songs and saved classic rock from staying in a dusty box in some second-hand record shop.
Metroid Prime (GC)
The graphics are fantastic. From the rain pattering on your visor to the explosions caused by Samus' arm-gun. This game made "Metroid" a juggernaut again. In short this game has class, serious butt-blowing-up style.
Final Fantasy VII
A guy with a big sword fighting a guy with an even BIGGER sword, how do you not love this game? Every aspect of this game made it worth the #2 spot, the amazing graphics and CGI of the time and down-right amazingly fantastic battles and magic. This was so great, you even loved the bad guy, Sephiroth (the bigger sword guy), in all of his evil, flashy glory.
Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64)
On the top of nearly every best video game list, this game is awe-inspiring fabulous-ness. Every thing in this game was revolutionary and amazing. Including the (at that time) new target lock system and the amazing ocarina which would help travel through time and summon various creatures. Oh my gosh. If you don't own this, leave your computer now and go buy it. It is without a doubt in my mind the greatest video game of all time.
