Zelda Phantom Hourglass

A review on one of the latest Zelda Games.

Now this is a very good game, it has a very unique graphic style with not many curves or gradients used like in many other games but it's still very effective. The hourglass in the above image is just a taste of their interesting graphics, not to mention the very first cut scene in the game.

Phantom hourglass is one of those games that has everything available in DS Download play and allows multiple files on the game so if you're family likes to share games, you only need a single copy of this game to enjoy it to it's full extent.

The story-line is brilliant, just like all the zelda games, Zelda tries too investigate a rumour about the ghost ship and doesn't come back. Trying to save her, link dives over board but falls into the water and when he washes up on sure, a new adventure begins. The main game play, moving fighting, etc is touch screen based and the game can be modified for left or right handed play.

Players of the old games would appreciate that the fairy no longer says “Listen!” every time she wants to talk to you, she simply talks and usually only after, before or during cut scenes.

The game still contains the same items as in the old games, but with the features of the stylus the ways of using the items which you un-lock along the way is very different than the way you used to use them.

As this is a pirate based version of the zelda games and is very different to the medieval ones we are used to, you spend a lot of time sailing and picking up treasure, along with the islands and other ships you run into and explore. There is a new race in this game which make interest you. (Then concern you once you know what it is.)

Something which adds to the gaming experience is the fact that you can collect ship parts then customize your ship to your hearts content. Pieces vary from Tropical ship pieces, to demon pieces or even to pure gold pieces.

The wi-fi on the game is used for trading treasures and ship pieces as well as doing the same thing you'd do on Multiplayer normally, battling in mazes with Phantoms vs Link. I'd elaborate on the phantoms but it would spoil the game. You'll love it, especially the interesting ways of defeating the new bosses.

If you're a Zelda fan then this game is a must. Still, if you have no other games this isn't a good buy as you will finish it quite quickly and there is limited mini-quests in it. Although if you already have at least two substantial length games, add this to your wish-list.
