You'll be able to get a heart container after you complete each level in the NES Nintendo Legend of Zelda video game. Besides these heart containers there are five other heart containers you can get in the game. When you have a choice of a heart container or a potion - always choose a heart container.
HEART CONTAINER #1 LOCATION
From the start of the game go one screen east. Now go north three screens. From here go west one screen. Notice the row of bushes towards the bottom of the screen. You'll need a candle. Use the candle to burn the bushes on the bottom of the screen. One of the burnt bushes will reveal a staircase. Take the staircase and get the heart container. Remember, if you choose a potion you will never be able to get this heart container again.
HEART CONTAINER #2 LOCATION
From the start of the game go four screens to the east. You'll notice a lake to the southeast corner and rock formations to the north. Bomb the rock formations to the north to reveal a hidden cave. Inside the cave you'll find another heart container.
HEART CONTAINER #3 LOCATION
From the beginning of the game go east four screens. From here go north five screens. Now go east one screen. There will be a sort of circular rock formation in the middle of the screen. Bomb the bottom of the rock formation to reveal a hidden entrance. Go inside for another heart container.
HEART CONTAINER #4 LOCATION
You'll need the raft to get to this heart piece location. You can obtain the raft in level three. From the start of the screen go east eight screens. You need to go as far as you can. You won't be able to go any further east once you go this far. Now head four screens north. You'll see a wooden dock to the north. Go onto the dock, and if you have the raft, you'll automatically be taken to a secret island location. Go inside the entrance for a heart container.
HEART CONTAINER #5 LOCATION
This heart container is just south of the last heart container you received. Go back on the raft to the dock. Head down two screens south and you'll see the heart container. You should have seen it on your way to container #4. Use the ladder to get to the heart container. The ladder can be obtained from Level 4.
That is how you obtain all of the hidden heart container pieces in the original Legend of Zelda video game. These directions are you same whether you use the Gamecube, Nintendo Wii, or Nintendo NES version.
