Most fans of Starcraft have been quite exciting for Blizzard's upcoming sequel, Starcraft 2. Just recently at Blizzcon 2008, Blizzards very own convention, Blizzard announced that they would be releasing Starcraft 2 in three games. Each game will focus on a different race and the entire campagne will revolve around that race. In this article, I am going to tell you what I think about this. Personally, I do not like the idea of spliting the game in three. Here are the reasons why.
Cons
Longer wait
Fans of Starcraft are going to have to wait along time for each game. The first game will revolve around the Terran race, and their campaign. The game will be release in 2009, which is already along time. Then we have to wait until 2010 to play as the Zerg in their campaign. Finally we have to wait until 2011 to play as the Protoss. I really do not think this is fair for the players, and I am sure it will be frustrating having to wait.More Money
Each of these games are going to cost money. If each game is around $60.00, then to get all the games and play through all the campaigns, you will have to spend $180.00, sure this is over the time span of 3 years, but it is still unfair to the fans.Online Confusion
Each game will have online play that will have all 3 races in it. I am unsure about how Blizzard will do this, but if each game has separate online play, then whose going to play what? If I buy the first one, and then I can't get the second, for whatever reasons, then will I be able to play with my friends who could get the second. Will they have to play on the first disc to play with me. I hope that they update their online play and allow players with any of the games to play online with everyone else.
Pros
I can only really think of one pro. This would be that they have more time to make each game better. They can keep up with the next generation of games. But we do have to consider one point, the original Starcraft is still being played to day. Graphically it is way outdated, but gamers comeback for more and more, because of the great game that it is.
