EA Digital Illusions CE (DICE) is the developer of the upcoming highly-anticipated first-person action-adventure video game entitled “Mirrors Edge”. I’m really excited about the game since it’s said to be a completely genre-changing title. Everything about the game, from its graphics to its story, has got me really hyped.

The graphics of Mirror’s Edge can simply be described as, stunning. The graphics are very colorful and extremely realistic. You can tell just by looking at it, that just how much detail there is in the game.

The gameplay looks really fun, and with no HUD it makes this game feel like a true first-person. You can really feel the exhilaration when you jump from a rooftop to another one, not knowing if you’re going to make it, and the thrill of just reaching the edge and knowing you made it. The movement of the camera really adds to making this a spectacular first-person. It moves in just the way you would think, whether you’re running for your life or simply walking. Also unlike other FPS games, where you’re just able to see the weapons or arms of the character, in this games you’ll be able to see the arms, legs and sometimes even the torso. This could really change my view of the entire FPS genre.

The controls look quite simple and really user-friendly. I remember in some games that the controls were just too complicated, and me throwing the controller ten feet away in frustration. But this control-scheme looks A-Ok to me. It’s also kind of nice how certain objects in the game will highlight red when you get near them, giving you an idea of which way to go.

The story also appealed to me, where you are a member of and underground community that exchanges information through a number of really athletic people called “runners”. I think a good story is what makes a game great, and it certainly looks like Mirror’s Edge has one.

I think that DICE will be able to pull something spectacular off with this game, and could end up creating an entirely new genre of video game.
