Where's Classic Mario

The problem with graphics over game play.

I remember as a kid playing all the Super Mario Bros. games on Nes and Super Nintendo. They may not have had the best graphics but the game-play was off the charts. Whether squashing Koopa's or defeating Bowser, You could always be entertained.

In my personal opinion, Mario Bros. stopped being fun. Nintendo 64 brought out Mario 64, the 3D Mario Game. I did not find this game fun at all, but I do understand that they want Mario to evolve with the times, but something shouldn't change. The thing that really bugs me though, is the fact that Mario Galaxy for Wii, was hyped up to be like the old school Mario but improved. Has anyone played this game yet? Is it just me or is the view impossible to follow. I thing the game-play sucks, but hey, the graphics are good.

I do like the Mario party games and the Mario and Sonic Olympics game, because they aren't suppose to resemble old school games but are actually fun and you can tell what's going on.

Nintendo DS has brought out the New Super Mario Bros, an old school playability with little improvement. Thank you DS, your doing what should have been done the whole time. Hopefully Nintendo Wii will follow DS's lead and bring back 2D Mario.

I just don't undertand why Nintendo is ruining Mario.

I can agree that gameplay should take precedent over graphics, and the developers have been neglecting this lately.
Yet, I have to say, I did like Mario 64. :P
Can we agree that Mario made a much better transition to 3d than many other 2d video game characters?

I liked the original Sonic Adventure, but the second one didn't refresh its gameplay any, and they both paled in comparison to Sonic 2 or 3.
