New Super Mario Bros is a bad game compared to it's elders
In the history of video gaming, there have been many overhyped games. New Super Mario Brothers isn't a bad game, but compared to the old mario games which are fun, it's bad. I will explain what ruins the game for me.
Loosy New Powerups
Remember Super Mario Bros 3 on the Nintendo Entertainment System? How many awesome powerups this game had? Well in this game we only have three new powerups (Excluding the mushroom and the flower), the giant mushroom, the tiny mushroom and the koopa shell which are all disapointingThe Giant Mushroom

Don't get me wrong, but i think this item ruins the game for everyone, it's way too easy to find and way too powerful, you can even use it in bosses where you can kill them in one hit.Personally, it ruined the first stage for me, sure it was fun but why presenting a big new feature of the game right at the beggining of the game?
In some instance, you even get stuck with this powerup since you aren't able to jump, making this item useless and frustrating in a lot of situations, it even reverts Fire Mario to Super Mario when you use it.
Why even putting this powerup in the game?Tiny Mushroom
This item isn't so bad actually, it's a pretty nice feature, it allows Mario to get tiny and go in places where normal Mario can't, my only problem with it is that it's too hard to find when you need it to go somewhere unlike the giant mushroom and the koopa shell.Koopa Shell
This item is an abomination, it's the worst powerup in Mario's history. Basically, it allows you to have a koopa shell on Mario's back and allow him while ducking and rucking to become a spinning shell, the only problem with it is that it's impossible to control, it goes fast, dosen't stop and bounces on walls/blocks.Unless you find a way to slow down, you will most likely fall into a hole and die.
Loosy Difficulty
This game is way too easy compared to the older games, i understand that this game is meant to be for everyone but this isn't kiddy super mario brothers. For exemple, in this game, the flower powerup makes Mario able to take one more hit(If he gets hit as Fire Mario he reverts back to Super Mario, allowing you to take one more hit before becoming Normal Mario). In the older games, if you were hit as Fire Mario, you reverted back to Normal Mario and died if you were hit another time.
The bosses are way too easy when you have a fire flower or a giant mushroom, you just throw a few fireballs at them or touch them and you defeated them.
The difficulty increase as the game goes on is really minimal, the game dosen't present anything that is challenging or hard to do.For myself, i didn't die once in the whole game.
Boring
I hate to say this, but this game becomes boring after half a hour because the game dosen't offer anything satisfying as you play, it's always the same thing without any challenge or difficulties.
Lifetime
The game dosen't last very long unless you want to collect all the medals which gives nothing, i finished the game withing three hours, and the game is still 32 bucks on Amazon.com, i say it's somewhat a scam.
A Giant Backstep
This game, compared to Super Mario Bros 3 on the Nintendo Entertainment System and Super Mario World on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, takes out all what was good that was added on those two games; the awesome powerups, the awesome secrets, the great challenges, the awesome levels, the awesome enemies. Nearly everything that made Mario Brothers so great is missing to the call in this game, it's a huge letdown, Nintendo could have done so much more considering that they used a 32MB cartridge for the game(while the max is 128MB).
This is what i think about the Super Mario Brothers remake on the Nintendo DS. Let's hope that Nintendo get their ideas together and make something that honors their past.
