Mario Kart Wii: Game Review

Mario Kart Wii is a game for the Nintendo Wii console.

The Mario Kart Series has bee around long since the Super Nintendo, plenty of us have loved at least one of these titles in this great series of racing games. For me I enjoyed Mariokart DS more because I like to play portable games but onward to the race track for my review!

Mariokart 64 is still a gret game, it had great courses, awesome music and decent graphics for it's time. It's battle mode was alright, though I think sometimes I played that more than the races.

Now we have Mariokart Wii. Mariokart Double Dash on the Gamecube could have been a damn good game if it was more like this game. You know like if it had online play and secret characters with some unlockable karts.

Story - N/A

There is no story to the Mariokart series, you just pick up your controller or Wii Wheel and race.

Graphics - 7/10

Very nice graphics here for Mariokart Wii, kind of similar to Double Dash but something about it just stands out. The drivers I will admit could look better however the courses are fantastic! In fact if you have Mii's licensed on the Mariokart Wii game you will see their faces through out some of the courses. Weapons and attacks could look a lot better, they look way too close to last gen's game.

Sound - 6/10

The Sound in this game is okay but nothing too great to get you up off your feet and jamming out to the music. The voice acting for some characters are very annoying and some of them sound like children impersonating people. Take for example the Mii's, they sound terrible at least to me they do. Other than the voice acting the music is pretty good while you play to listen to.

Gameplay - 9/10

Great, The racing is pretty much perfectly done. Only thing that ruins this game is the amount of characters on the screen at one time and the huge arsenal of weapons going off almost all at one time. Battle Mode was also a bit of a disappointment for me. There are however tons of new courses and some classic courses have been redone which makes it a bit better. The online play is great I have expierenced no problems with it so if you have wifi get on and race! The bikes and karts worked great, when I first got this game I thought to myself "Ugh bikes? Why!" Man was I wrong, cause when I first played I used a bike and I had fun, both bikes and carts have their own pro's and con's.

Overall - 9/10

Overall this game is a great racing game nontheless. If the battle mode were a little bit better I probably would have given this gae a 10/10. I'd also like to see the weapons toned down a bit.

Buy or Rent - Buy!

Definitely go out and buy this game if you don't have it, you will have plenty of fun with your friends racing with you trying to get first place!
