Bacon's game reviews for the 360. This time it's Lost Planet.
- Graphics: 8.0
- Game play: 6.5
- Sound: 6.0
- A.I.: 5.5
- Fun: 8.0
- OVERALL SCORE: 6.8
The graphics where solid from the snow to the colorful explosions that decorated the screen as you blasted the akrid with a well deserved rocket form your rocket launcher. This is a point in a game where game fog is more understandable and helpful than in other games. What made it from becoming a 10 were the characters faces, they could of used more fluidity than anything else especially when they talked.
The game play was better than average due to the stuff you can do while in-game such as grapple, snipe, jump, and get in some-what-cool-looking mechs. I mean V.S. suits. Alas at the end of the game it seemed like another mech game than anything else as players rushed to get to the nearest V.S.
The sound is part of the experience, from explosions to footsteps thru the thick snow to the satisfying boom of a recently blown up V.S. The musical notes during boss fights and in multi-player matches where a nice touch to the already tense battle but the sound in general where nothing to knock your socks off. (If you where wearing socks at the time)
The A.I. is nothing special nor horrible, it's just there to be shot at. The boss battles are just main-stream as you can get, all the bosses have a certain attack pattern and a “panic” mode where they get faster, more powerful, and less likely to show their weak points.
The fun score was mostly due to the well-done multi player. I got a good connection almost all the time and could always find a match with anyone. There was a slight learning curve from the start but nothing a few hours of practice that could handle.
Overall score: 6.8
