Hello, my Name is Katarn. And I am here to tell you about JKA or JA. Jedi Knight Jedi academy is a different sort of Star wars First person shooter, not at all like battlefront 2 or 1. And most certainty not at all like Republic Commando, but in fact a game type of its own. You could call it a third person “lightsaberer”. Now if you are a regular “First Person Shooter” player then do not worry. You almost could play the whole game as a shooter but of course not the good part.....the lightsaber duels!
Just kidding... The lightsaber duels are OK, but I am afraid not the best part of the game :(. Now for the story So you start out as this unknown species/gender thing called Jaden Korr and he (or she) is a Jedi. So he (or it O_o) starts out as a Jedi “padawan” or student. The back ground is that he has a lightsaber that he made him self with out the knowledge of the force (a Jedi has to be trained with the force to use (and create) a lightsaber) and was found by a unknown Jedi Master or whatever and sent to a Jedi academy. With the lightsaber's you can also choose different colors for your lightsaber. And you have: green,blue,purple,yellow and (only in Multi-player and a few mods) red for you sith, also you have the ability to have your own lightsaber hilt style (not like in Jedi Outcast).So on his way he meets: Kyle Katarn, Luke Katarn (just kidding) Luke Skywalker and a few others. The Single Player part comes in 4 difficulty's: Padawan,Jedi,Jedi Knight,Jedi Master.
Padawan is the easiest and Jedi Master is the hardest. After you have played the SP part. Now for the story part of it: So Jaden starts out on Yavin IV and has do a few quests there and has to pass his or hers (or its o_O) training. Then you go on your first “mission of peace” as a Jedi. The fun thing about the levels is that they do not go in any order in each tier. So you could go to Tattoine and the to Courucant( a, in mado'a ) or the other way around. Mind you there are many levels and many different planets. Then there is Multi-Player. The best part, and that is because of JKA's high modding community.
For example KOTF (or Knights of the Force) is a TC mod for JKA and JKO (Jedi knight Jedi outcast) you can visit the forums or site by clicking this link. Then there is another good MP (only) called Force mod III (3): It allows more skins and new clone wars themed weapons. Those are some of the best mods that I now of.
By the way: did I tell you it uses the quake 3 engine?
