Assuming that you know about the 5 boroughs Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, Bronx, and Staten Island, I bet Staten Island seems to be the most unfamiliar to you ( Unless you live there of course ). Staten Island is portrayed as a quiet countryside area that is filled with nothing but preppy Catholic school kids and no violence. While Brooklyn, The Bronx, and Queens have maintained their tough thuggish image, Staten Island was totally forgotten about. I bet you didn't know this fact. The Bronx and Queens have barely gone up in the crime rate area. Brooklyn went up about 7%. Bet you never saw this coming. Staten Island's crime rate went up about 35% in 2007 and is expected to increase.
Another thing that annoyed me was that fact that in the latest Grand Theft Auto game (IV) there is no Staten Island. Don't get me wrong, GTA 4 is a great game (Aside from the crappy brakes on EVERY SINGLE CAR), but this was supposed to be a game set in All of NYC not just “The Popular Boroughs”. Over the past few years there has been talk about Staten Island being considered its own city (Richmond) but that didn't happen now did it ( well at least not yet). If you still feel that Staten Island is completely different from all of the boroughs, ill be putting up some pictures shortly. Staten Island is like a mix between all of the boroughs with a little bit of Upstate NY.
