It all started around 1999 when two people thought, "Hey, Half-life is getting a little
boring, let's make an awesome mod for it!". So, a few months later the half-life 1
modification called Counter-Strike hit the internet for download. About a year later,
Valve notices this awesome mod and said, "Hey, this mod's cool. Let's turn it in to
a game. So about a year or so later, Counter-Strike hit the market, but this time, it was
a huge game.
The game kept on getting updates and getting better and around early 2003, valve got the
crazy idea for making Half-life 2 with a new engine. They called this engine, the source
engine. It used all the things a good game should have. Life-like physics, real-time
reflections, and an awesome gameplay story. In 2004, this game released and gave the world a
shake.
In about 2005, valve thought, "Hey, the source engine is awesome, and so is CS, so let's give
CS the source engine." So, Valve upgraded CS with the source engine and released it, blowing
the minds of all computer gamers with high-end systems. They called it, Counter-Strike
Source.
CSS had two main kinds of gameplay. Demolition, where the terrorists would plant a bomb
and protect it until it blew up, while the counter terrorists would get to the bomb
and defuse it, and CS, where the terrorists would "protect" the hostages while the counter terrorists
would get the hostages out.
