Company of Heroes Basic Tactic Guide

Control your engineer, armor, squad and defenses effectively can prevent heavy casualties.

Engineer

An Engineer is one of the most important character in this game. He can fix OPs quickly. They also can help to build and strenghten your defenses, and make it harder for the enemy to approach. Losing an engineer in the frontline can be very costly for you, so make sure you have an extra engineer as a replacement.

Make sure you always bring your engineer to the front lines so you can fix damaged vehicles. Otherwise you will have to spend a lot more replacing destroyed Shermans and Halftracks, especially if their engines are damaged from enemy attacks and they cannot retreat safely.

Armored Vehicles

Try to buils halftrack as often as possible. Halftrack with a quad cannon is a very effective to deal with enemies infantry. A halftrack can also be functioned as a moving base, reinforce your squads near a halftrack can decrease threat.

Micromanage your Shermans under heavy fire from AT guns, panzers, etc. Flanking AT guns from the rear usually takes care of the crew in one shot, and having your Sherman mobile while attacking a panzer will make it survive much longer. Smokescreens help too, so buy them when you have the spare resources for them. Do not fighting muscles to muscles againts german armors, unless they're supported by engineers or infantries equipped with bazookas.

Assault Squad

Get BAR as sooan as possible, Rifle squads with BAR upgrade can fight on their own against most infantry threats, except for MG42s and snipers. Engineers with flame throwers are good upgrades too because that way they can fight on their own against infantries to a certain extent.

To deal with armor unit yous should have panzershrecks and bazookas with your infantry squads. Hence, use your Shermans to soak up the damage while your infantries flank around and go in for the kill.

Snipers can take care of heavy weapon crews such as MGs, mortar and AT gun in the open field. They can olso be functioned as a scout in the front line. Make sure they hold their fire so they do not reveal themselves needlessly. Because snipers are really vulnerable against motorcycles, make sure you keep an eye on them and pull your sniper out when necessary. A veteran sniper can move much faster while being camouflaged.

Garrison

To cove entire map build a howitzers in the center of the map. leave some defenses around your howitzers, to prevent enemy attack. Conversely, if the enemy have nebelwerfers, take these out first because they can potentially take out your own howitzers

Always build a front line barracks whenever possible, so that you can reinforce from that line instead all the way back from the base. It saves time, especially when your army gets wasted by a lucky artillery strike.

Build a triage center right in front of your HQ, so that whenever you have units retreating they will be automatically healed by your triage center.

This "guide" is awful. Unless you like losing, then it's great. If you like winning, go here: http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?t=113400
