In this article I will try to explain strategies and tips about how to play with the Scrin. At the first section I will explain to you how to construct and expand your base and how to use Scrin army effectively. At the later section I will explain some tips about rushing, and turtling strategies, how to deal with the GDI, the Nod and another Scrin.
Scrin General Strategies
In this section I will explain to you the general strategies and tips to play with the GDI. First is the very start of the game. At the beginning of the game try to build in this composition:
- 2 Refineries, Place your refineries at tiberium depot inside your base
- Portal
- 2 Power Plants
- Crane
- Surveyor, Send this surveyor to nearest tiberium depot that is not in your base
Start to expand your base as soon as possible. Be careful when you do this however, always protect your surveyor well. It is also a good idea to build a Sentry Tower at the start of the game to defend against a possible infantry attack.
In Command and Conquer 3, Scrin's late game units are superior. So you should build your technology level as soon as possible. Building a tech assembler will be very important for the Scrin.
All Scrin units are really expensive in Command and Conquer 3. You should be able to get a lot of money to afford a lot of units. In order to build your economy, you should have at least 10 harvesters then build 1 Extractor for every 3 Harvesters.
Annihilators are the back bone of Scrin's ground unit in command and conquer 3. Focus their fire when fighting stronger units such as Mammoth tanks, and use force move to destroy smaller tanks.
Although they are only basic infantry in command and conquer 3, the Buzzers are very important for the Scrin. They are fast and hard to click on. They can be excellent scouts, able to deal sniper damage and give your tanks defensive boost. In command and Conquer 3, the Buzzers are able to form an anti-infantry attack to prevent Rocket Militia attack your tanks.
The Storm Columns are very important, and they will also give a boost to your nearby aircraft. Combine your storm columns with some Devastators above them, in order to form a strong defenses. Your Storm Columns will protect your Devastators from air attack, and the Devastators will protect the Columns from ground attack. Scatter your Storm Columns all over your base in order to increase their effectiveness.
The Mothership is very expensive and they will be the first target that the enemy takes out. Make sure you have at least $5000. Build a signal transmitter (must be your only one, if you already have one, sell it just before building this one). Sneak a Mastermind near the enemy base. Once the signal transmitter is completed use the mastermind to take over a building in the enemy base, the more cramped the area, the better. Immediately build the signal transmitter beside this building then use the Mothership ability. There you have a Mothership in the middle of the enemy base with little effort.
There is another alternative in using your mothership. First create lots of buzzers and summon in your Mothership. You'll be using the wormhole ability in the enemy base so you'll need some way of seeing into it first, maybe a snuck in unit, or a plane flown around the back. Open a wormhole beside your buzzers to the back of the enemy base. Force fire the mothership near to but not on the buzzers; it needs to be close enough that it kills at least 1 buzzer in the initial blast otherwise the catalyst effect wont happen. Send them through the wormhole. When they die the catalyst effect will begin on the enemy base.
You can also use your mothership to guard chokepoints. Have a few units guarding the point with your mothership a short way behind. If an enemy attack comes, use the mothership on one of the enemies. You will destroy a lot of them and the resulting explosion will annihilate almost the entire enemy force if they're close together - which they probably will be.
Produce a diverse range of units in an attack is much more effective, rather than just one unit. Combine Annihilators, Shock Troopers, Devastators, and PACs all together when attacking. Send in your Annihilators slightly in front of other in order to taking out AA defenses and ground units that encounter you. Because the Devastators have a longer range, put them slightly behind. Put your Shock Troopers near the Devastators to protect them from air units. During the fight, send your PACs straight into the center of the enemy base. When they get to the middle, set them on offensive mode, and activate their Ion Storm ability.
