Command and Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars: GDI Strategy Guide

General strategies and tips to command GDI army offensively and defensively, strategies and tips to use your unit effectively and Strategies and tips to deal with another GDI, the Nod and the Scrin.

In this article I will try to explain strategies an tips about how to play with the GDI. At the first section I will explain to you how o construct and expand your base and how to use GDI army effectively. At the later section I will explain some tips to deal with another GDI, the Nod and the Scrin.

GDI General Strategies

In this section I will explain to you the general strategies and tips to play with the GDI. First is the very start of the game. At the beginning of the game try to build in this composition:

  1. 2 refineries. Place your refineries at tiberium depot inside your base.
  2. 2 power plants
  3. barracks. Start to build your infantry.
  4. crane
  5. surveyor. Send this surveyor to nearest tiberium depot that is not in your base.

Start to expand your base as soon as possible. Start making a lot of infantry and turrets. Do not forget to garrison your infantry in order to maximize their effectiveness. If you use this strategy, you will get a strong start to kick off the rest of the game.

To build your defensive army group use 4-6 Predators and 2-4 APCs with missile squads or zone troopers inside. Both vehicles appear to travel at the same speed, so one group wont get there and get all shot up before the other guns get there. Upgrade the Predators with rail guns as soon as possible. Mammoths are your best defense once you can get around to building them.

To create a good defensive position with the GDI, deploy one rig and two Mammoths. Set both of your mammoths to the hold ground defensive stance, to keep them right next to the rig. Once in a while go and use the repair button on the rig, but usually those 2 mammoths have taken out every wave the enemy throws at it.

At late game, the enemy usually will a lot of air attack. Build a lot of AA gun behind you in order to prevent enemy's air attack.

To build your offensive army group use about 10-15 Mammoths, try to combine them firehawk strikes on critical structures such as super weapons or construction yards. Use the firehawk's stratofighter ability to knock out construction yards, with stratofighter you can appear right next to their construction yard.

Orcas are another great supporting unit for mammoths. You can use them to take out beam tanks for example. Orcas are also able to detect stealth units, so they can find cloaked avatars, stealth tanks, anything that might threaten your mammoths.

Use your zone trooper drop pods power on the back of the enemy base before an attack. You may be able to knock out enough power plants to put them below their required power. If you can attack your enemy when they have lack of power supply, you can kill their base defenses with little resistance.

Keep your infantry out of Tiberium. Because being in tiberium will steadily damages most of your infantry units.

How to deal with another GDI

In this section I will explain how to deal with another GDI. Have similar units with your opponents will become your main problem. Learn your unit ability carefully and try to find a way to encounter them. For example encounter enemy's infantry with your snipers, and enemy's snipers with your vehicles, destroy enemy's vehicles with your missile squads etc.

Try to build your tech level faster than your opponents. Because both you and your opponents have exactly the same units, you need to use something they can't match. By building your tech level faster you will be able to use your advanced vehicles to attack them, before they use those same vehicles against you.

Set up a lot of AA inside of your base to prevent your opponent of using fire hawks.

Beware of their sonic cannons especially when you use your mammoths near enemy bases. Sonic cannons will blow your mammoths. If you group them up, you may even lose several of them in just a few shots.

How to deal with the Nod

In this section I will explain how to deal with the Nod. A good Nod player usually will use Fanatics extensively against you for anti-vehicle and anti- building purposes. To encounter their fanatics, make some extra snipers and scatter them around your base, and also send them with your attack forces. You will need them to kill fanatics.

Beware of the Nod's stealth towers. Approach their stealth towers cautiously and try bombard it in advance. Usually the enemy has placed a lot of turrets under the stealth field. They will destroy you if you approach them incautiously.

The Nod is the master of diversions. A stealth tower may just be a diversion to make you advance more cautiously, and miss other opportunities while you concentrate.

Each Nod AA tower can fire three missiles, and each one they buy comes in a set of three turrets. Don't use air attack if the enemy has a lot of AA towers, unless you are ready to lost a lot of your air unit.

How to deal with the Scrin

In this section I will explain how to deal with the Scrin. The Scrin have absolute domination in air power. So do not try to control the air.To support you Anti Air defense, put some firehawks in Anti Airmode around. These firehawk will deal with anything that your AA defense can't handle.

Build as many bunkers as you can. Put with missile squads, AA turrets, pitbulls, etc, inside of them. Without effective air power, you can force the Scrin to fight you on the ground, where your units are far more resilient.

How do I build turrets, tiberium silos? I am not sure of all the pre-requitsites. Is there a way for me to obtain a list of all the sturctures and the pre-requisites.

Turrets, or sams, are in your defensive structures tab. The prereq. is the commandpost.

the strat agains the scrin wont be enough im afraid. problem is that if scrin wants to go do an all out air attack then you can build what you like but they WILL overpower you.
if scrin takes/gets the time to build an air army, all hope is lost.

what i need against scrin is a good attack plan. as far as i noticed (im not playing that long but i have a good eye for strategies) you need to finish the scrin off as early in the game as possible.
in end game theres no stopping them

TD, you can use stryker against air attack of the scrin...

scrin is not that powerful to me.. all i have to do is make a good def.. lots of pitbull, APC w/ zone trooper and lots of stryker.. :D

i scared at nod... >.< their fanatics.. flamet thrower is to high defence... T_T

To kill the nod fanatics and theirs flame tanks build venoms and send about 4 at every entrance. upgrade them with the laser ability at them tech lab. they detect stealth, so they can find the flame tanks if they are cloaked, and with their laser upgrade theyll take them out easily. their guns will destroy fanatics without problem. hope this helps Blue

I have a great startegy for every army. The first one will we for siege matches and then for versus.

Siege: Scrin
Map: Beatdown

This is my favorite one. First build a base that consist of every building structure. Make sure to have 4 refinery buildings with 8 extractors. Growth acceloraters are very important. When you have all of the buildings complete make sure to have the following:

10 Planetary assualt carriers with shields
10 tripods with shields
20 stormriders

Build about 10 storm columns and 30 aa batteries.

Also make sure to have a drone ship.

When the game starts send your stormriders to blow up the bridges and your drone ship to the far back left of the enemy base. Make sure they can't see it.

While deploying it put your tripods in aline and put the planetaries above it in storm mode. This will prevent any air attack. Have the storm riders behind that in aggressive. You now have the ultimate defense.

Build two air buildings and start pumping out as many devastators as you can behind the enem base. Make sure to have them on hold fire mode!!! Once you have max command points tell your tripods to swarm the enemy base on agressive stance. They will destroy almost everything unless a lot of air. Once your tripods hit the base send your planetaries in. It will take a while. Send your storm riders in and tell them to hit the enemy power and put them on aggresive. Next, select your entire devastator air army and put them on aggressive. Send the right over the enemy base and you will crush the enemy unless they built defense the entire time.

No one can defend against tripods, devastators, planetaries, and stormriders.

Scrin: Verses:

Once the game starts build a crane. Once completed plant it down and tell your drone ship to go to the enemy base. Quickly build a power plant. Plant it down and then build a portal. Once your drone ship finds the enemy camp plant in near the enemy base. Unpack it and put your portal riht next to it. First pump out both infrantry units and keep building portals. Send them to destroy the enemy baracks. Next build some engineers and start taking over key buildings like the construction yards or the enemies cranes. Make sure you have mass inra building. Once your opponent is dead start building refineries and and tank depots. Tell you ally to attack the enemy from the front while you hit him from the side. This will kill your opponent unless he is a god.

dont meen to be a critic... but.... i dont think that would work.... when you are usin gdi... you should use the blitzkrieg tactic of ww2.. using firehawks to take out specific buildings namely their construction yard and war factory if your battling nod... if the nod army has already put up air defenses.. their stealth tanks and fanatics would be most likely be at your doorstep by then..so what you need to do is put up watch towers and sonic emitters in advance to build up to 4 airfields use 8 fire hawks to take out the construction yard and immidiately use the 4 to take out the construction yard and use the remaining 4 just in case the task isnt done ... and using the artillery will help... if air is extremely tight atack using land based forces ... use 4 apc's with zone troopers 6 apc's with missle squads.. 2 juggernauts and 3 mammoth tanks... use artillery and super weapon to take out defenses.... but the super weapon isnt realy required then just take them out from the side
#13 by jules adrian, May 21, 2008
sorry... wrong ... what i meant was use the 8 to take out the construction yard then use 4 to take out their war factory

i have had this game since it first came out...i have acumilated strategies and tactics that will blow your mind.heres some names of the examples that ive created......the beehive.....the hornets nest.....wounded wolf.....the old man strategy......and yes i know that last one sounds funny.....if that strategie was used against you,you could try to laugh with no money, refineries, construction yards or foundry. as i said dangerous strategies.... to learn these send a message to this e-mail die494906@tmail.com

I\'m an expert scrin user, man. the thing is you really can\'t fully eliminate a scrin air army. I mean my army always consists of the ff:

-30 Devastator warships
-20 PAC\'s
-20 Storm Riders

the secret is, we rely on our numbers more than our power. The little buggers that fly out of the PAC\'s are too many to be brought down by base defenses. Furthermore, devastator warships clearly outrange every manmade anti-air defense in the NOD and GDI arsenal, so if I were to plan a full scale attack on a base, I know that i\'ll succeed.

But one thing does destroy this army, In the GDI the strato fighters of the firehawks must attack the gravity stabilizer of the scrin base early in the game to cripple the Armada. If, however, the stabilizer is place behind defensive turrets, just attack the signal transmitters or the tech assembler, to lessen their use of superior air units. After crippling that, just focus on the defenses then you\'re in the clear
