Call of Duty Four Modern Warfare Review

2007's Call of Duty four Modern Warfare on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC (Computer).

The Much anticipated Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare was a huge hit upon release.

Call of Duty, most commonly known for its World War Two 1st person shooters, released Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare in late 2007.

Single Player - Campaign 8.5/10

The single player is a little short clocking in at a mere 6-7 hours on a reasonable difficulty level. However it does offer a compelling story with gripping scenes, realistic and emotional. The characters are detailed and not far fetched with great voices and lines. Battles are fun and levels are mixed with stealth, hardcore fighting and sniping.

You follow the US Marines and the SAS in an attempt to stop a nuclear war. You play as three characters in the game, one being a look into the past of your old Captain on an assassination attempt, and the other two being in the SAS and the Marines.

Multiplayer - Online 10/10

The online multiplayer is the best gaming has to offer. Halo and Resistance simply do not compare to the chaotic fights and silent stealth. There are many maps ranging from long range sniping maps to close quarters battles. More maps can be purchased on PS3 and Xbox 360 and even more on PC including special Christmas maps.

The multiplayer offers ranking and multiple unlockables from scopes to camouflage. And after reaching the basic top rank "Prestige Mode" is unlocked which allows players to start over and achieve an even higher rank. A wide range of weapons are available and even airstrikes and helicopters can be called upon to assist you.

There are huge amounts of game modes (around 15) from "Team Deathmatch" to "Hardcore Search and Destroy", which can support 12 or 18 players in a match (or 2 players in a "Cage Match").

Presentation - Graphics 9.7/10

The game overall is incredibly well presented glitches are hard to find in the multiplayer and best discovered over youtube. Attention to detail is great and whilst in the middle of battle it seems almost realistic with bullets whizzing past you left, right and centre. Battle scenes are mixed with helicopters and tanks, which you both fly in and can take out with a single grenade launcher shot. Views from the helicopters are stunning and full of detail and the game also allows you to shoot out of helicopters with incredible weaponry. In the heat of battle sound and visuals are outstanding with multiple explosions everywhere. However boundaries are poor and unrealistic with fences that could easily be jumped over.

The weapons are very well designed adding a very realistic feel to the multiplayer and campaign. Camouflage is good looking on the weapons and when fired produce amazing noises, different to every weapon.

Gameplay 10/10

The game runs fluently and along with that comes the controls. They are perfectly balanced and easy to understand and learn. The movement isn't too sensitive or too insensitive but just right. The shoulder buttons enable quick throwing of grenades in the tensest of situations. There is little to say because everything is perfect.

Overall

Single Player 8.5

Multiplayer 10

Presentation 9.7

Gameplay 10

Total 9.55

A must get!
