Plot
The Assassins Creed story is set in 2012. Desmond miles, a bartender, is kidnapped and taken to a building owned by Abstergo industries. They have invented a machine known as the Animus. The Animus has the ability to extract memories from the DNA of the user, passed on by descendant to descendant. This allows the user to replay the memories as if he was there himself. They chose Desmond because of his ancestor Altaïr Ibn La-Ahad (“the chosen one” in Arabic) who was a member of the assassin's brotherhood. Abstergo industries wanted to know more about how the assassins worked.
The Game
The game takes place in 1191, in the Holy land.There are four main cities: Jeruselem, Acre, Damascus and Masyaf. The games follows Altaïr Ibn La-Ahad,a member of the assassins brotherhood.The brotherhood is not allied to either the templars or Sarecens. Altaïr's mission is to assassinate 9 historical figures(According to Ubisoft developers, all of the main character's targets are historical figures who died or disappeared in 1191.)The mission has been assinged to him by Al Mualim,head of the brotherhood.
Before you can assassinate your target,you need to gather information using various techniques.These include: eavesdropping, forceful interrogation, pickpocketing, and completing tasks for Informers.You can do various other tasks.These include:saving citizens, killing templars,collecting flags and more.
Altair and his fellow assassins have to follow three rules:
- Stay your blade from the flesh of an innocent
- Hide in plain sight
- Do not compromise the brotherhood
