2. the full system - £170. this package includes child safety settings to stop your children playing games with adult content, a 20gb hard drive, a wired headset, free 30 day xbox live gold trial membership, wireless controller with 2 free AA batteries), ethernet cable to connect to your modem, a component hd av cable which can be used for high definition tvs or just normal tvs. (this console usually comes in white). also this can come with a 60gb hard drive.
3. the elite - £230. this package includes ethernet cable to connect to your modem, more advanced family settings than the xbox 360 full system, component hd av cable, black wireless controller (with 2 free AA batteries), black headset, 120gb hard drive and a free 30 day trial to xbox live gold membership.
all of the xbox 360 console packages allow some original xbox games to be played.
Now let's look at what the ps3 packages and their prices
1. ps3 40gb - £300. The 40gb package includes blue ray capabilities, not compatible with ps2 games, wireless controller, free online gameplay.
2. ps3 60gb - discontinued.
3. ps3 80g - £300. the ps3 80gb package comes with blu ray capabilities, a dual shock 3 wireless controller, 80gb hard drive. and this package also comes with free online gameplay.
Let's look at the most popular games each console has to offer
The xbox 360 - fable 1 and fable 2, lost odyssey, both of the saints row games, the guitar hero games, rockband, mass effect, shadowrun, forza, both of the gow games (these games are a must), halo 3 (this game is a must) and final fantasy xi.
the ps3 - killzone, metal gears solid 4 (this game is a must), resistance fall of man and god of war 3.
both platforms - fall out 3, oblivion, cod 4, cod 5, tom clanys rainbow six vegas 2, bio shock, burnout paradise and burnout revenge, graw, tomb raider underworld, need for speed undercover and gta iv.
Which console is more powerful?
the playstation 3 is supposedly more powerful and supposed to run faster but since the update on xbox 360 where u can download games to your hard drive to make them load and run faster the xbox loads much faster than the ps3. i have both consoles and i have noticed that my xbox 360 loads games faster than the playstation 3. ive tested this out on a few cross platform games which i have borrowed from friends to test out and 85% of the time my xbox 360 loads games faster than the ps3.
on paper the playstation three is meant to be more powerful but i have done research and discovered that this is not the case. the xbox 360 has 3 general-purpoes cpu's which are in reality more effective than the spus the ps3 uses.
in graphics the xbox 360 is the clear winner its gpu is more powerful. it has more powerful filtrate and far more pixel and vertex proccessing horsepower. also when u compare at blu ray and with hd you cant see any difference.
Which console is the better buy?
the xbox 360 elite package is cheaper than the playstation 3 and you get more with it also with the large hard drive that comes with the elite package you have more than enough room to save all your games to your hard drive allowing faster load times of all your games. but ps3 has blu ray it depends on the person but my preference is xbox but i do have a ps3.
