360, to Buy or Not to Buy?

A personal view about the x box 360 console, whether it's worth all the money and the attention it's getting thus far.

About 2 months ago, I was browsing through Yahoo! And was looking for article about the new gaming console by Microsoft, the x box 360 or known more affectionately as the 360.

After reading almost ten reviews, mostly conflicting ones regarding the stability of the system (10 authors claimed that their units broke down between 3-7 days of gaming, while another 6 says their unit is working wonderfully for months on end), the games (5 authors said that the games are not varied enough to attract gamers, while another 10 authors wrote that the game is engaging enough, although not varied to attract and satisfy most gamers). But the one thing that most of them agrees on is the graphics is just PHENOMENAL!

Now, if you were in my shoes, it would seem clear that this is not really helpful in making a decision isn't it? So, I decided to ignore the critics and get one for myself and see what the fuss is all about...

I bought my 360 units about a couple of months back. So far, thankfully, I have had no problem with my console. The games are fantastic, it's very engaging and reasonably challenging and in most departments, 360 beat down my old PS2 totally and utterly.

What I do want to share with my readers today are the 360 games themselves, well at least the ones I've already played. Maybe, like me, you are looking around for opinions and review before you decide to get one unit of x box 360 for yourself.

Let's start with the greatest game of the console, GEARS OF WAR by Microsoft. In terms of graphics, the quality and smoothness of the game has never been seen anywhere else before. No wonder it is the best selling game of the console since the launch of 360! In terms of game play, the co-operation between you and you AI teammates are also redefining gaming atmosphere and feel. You are responsible for the well being of your team mates, you need to revive them if they are wounded, you need to cover them while engaging enemy and the sound, and oh, the sound is just utterly incredible! It's like being amidst the battle itself with bullets whizzing past you and seeing the enemy you just shot, shred into pieces. AWESOME! A definite must-buy game if you do decide to get a 360.

Now, the second game that comes to mind is The Godfather by EA. The game follows the story by the novel The Godfather by Mario Puzo and the Academy Award winning, Godfather saga, directed by Francis Ford Coppola. In this game, the resemblance of the main characters of the game with real life actors from the movie is incredible. The details given to each actors facial features and facial expression is too eerily life like that the experience of playing the game is enhanced by it. The game is like the GTA system where you can explore the world, interact with people, drive the vehicles and access to all the weapons that fits into that glorious time frame of 1950's. The amount of missions (main and sub-mission) is enough to last at least 60-70 hours of gaming, now that is a lot of content!

There are a lot more games that I would like to share with you guys later on, but for now my advice to those out there who is still undecided about whether to buy the x box 360 console, BUY IT! The numbers of games for 360 is ever increasing; in fact, it currently surpasses the games offered by the other platform (PS3 and Wii). So if you want to have a great weekend with your friends online in the comfort o your homes, if you want to make new friends around the world and play games with them online, if you want to kill a couple of hours a day in a fun and challenging way, get the 360. You wont regret it.
