Marvel Ultimate Alliance

Review of Marvel Ultimate Alliance for the Nintendo Wii.

If you are looking for an RPG on the Wii this is about as good as it gets. In Marvel Ultimate Alliance S.H.E.I.L.D is given permission to create a task force of the greatest superheroes of the Marvel universe. The game begins with a gorgeous opening cinematic that gives you a brief run down of what is going on. Dr. Doom has banded together the greatest marvel villains and it's up to you and your team to stop him.

As far as graphics go if you own a wii you know not to expect much except for highly detailed cut scenes graphics are one step up from the game cube. The redeeming fact about this game as with all other wii games is that the “innovative” controls are actually good not a pain in ass. The game handles the teaching of the motions used in game with a brief tutorial at the start of the game but the difficult part is the memorization of this motions. All though you have the option to perform most attacks/superpowers with the d-pad and a button it becomes vital to use the wii mote and nunchuk to their full potential when you replay the game.

The story is a bit iffy and I am going to put my spoiler warning in here so I can continue if you miss any of the cut scenes but don't worry you'll get caught up sooner or later. And as with its predecessors being the x-men rpgs released with the movies there are no multiple paths to follow but a few key decisions do amount to some serious consequences at games end. Sadly to say most of the enjoyment you'll derive from this game will be from the constant bickering of Spider-man and wolverine.
