Many people believe that anyone who writes an article, a review, or even a forum post about 1 console is a fanboy of that console/company. I, however, don't believe that is so. Just because I write an article about the Playstation 3 and why I believe it is better does not make me a fanboy. I am a fan of the Playstation 3, yes, but that is not the definition of a fanboy. A fanboy isn't simply a fan of something, a fanboy believes that nothing else can possibly match his system/game of choice. He tries endlessly to try and convert others to his way of thinking, and then claims, rather ironically, that they are fanboys because they can't see that their system is inferior.
Just because I like one system, doesn't mean that I don't like the others. Infact, in the last generation of games, I preferred the Xbox over the Playstation 2. I just feel that the Playstation 3 is superior to both the Xbox 360 and the Nintendo Wii in this generation of gaming. There are many reasons for this, but they are purely my personal feelings in most cases, not distinct differences between the consoles.
Exclusive Games
I genuinely prefer the exclusive games on the PS3 versus either the Xbox 360 or the Nintendo Wii. I prefer games like Motorstorm, Resistance: Fall of Man and Uncharted: Drake's Fortune to Gears of War, Halo, Mario Kart Wii or Wii Playground. Motorstorm, Resistance and Uncharted are just my type of game. I prefer the exclusives on the PS3 not because they are "better", but because they are more enjoyable for me, which is the most important factor when choosing your favourite of anything. What suits me best, not somebody else.
Graphics
This is a field that the Nintendo Wii can't compete in. The Nintendo Wii is designed for casual games, not graphics, but the Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360 are both designed to be gaming powerhouses. From what I've heard though, and seen, the Playstation 3 has more power than the Xbox 360, and has promised to have better graphics than the Xbox 360. This has been conceded by Microsoft in the past, though they have argued that the PS3 has yet to pull ahead of the 360 in that department. That is true in my eyes, but I also believe it is only a matter of time before it does pull away.
User Functionality
I'm personally a big fan of the Cross Media Bar (or XMB) of the Playstation 3 (it made its debut on the Playstation Portable). It just has so much more to access than the Xbox 360 has, and it's so simple to use. The true beauty, though, of the XMB is that it accessed when you start up the system, as opposed to having to exit your game to view it. You don't have to let the game start up and then go into the XMB like on the Xbox360, when you turn on your system, it's there waiting for you. If you want to go straight to your game though, you can setup it up so that you do, bringing you the best of both worlds.
Those are my reasons behind my love for the Playstation 3. Just for anyone who may accuse me of being a fanboy, I do have both the Xbox 360 and the Nintendo Wii as well, I just don't find them as entertaining or enjoyable as the Playstation 3.
